Republican elites and their billionaire donors are in a funk. They donât know where to turn, who to support or what to do with their money. Fearing Trump and Carson, they crave an establishment candidateâthough the ones available are flat tires.
One complaint is that Trump and Carson lack the temperament and the experience to be president. This is an argument of weakness that belies elite befuddlement.
The argument says nothing about policyâwhat elites want and why they donât want what large numbers of Republicans want. Instead, they talk desperately about getting a candidate who might showcase a hefty resume to voters. Hence the new talk of a Romney draft. This has never been an attraction to voters, though itâs been used as an argument off and on for years.
An Nov. 22 Washington Post article, citing a new Post-ABC poll, showed only 11 percent of Republican voters think experience is a primary factor, while 52 percent of them said change in Washington was most important.
The truth is, no new president has enough experience for the job. They all undergo a tough learning curve because the job is that big and unique.

"Your guys want all the right things, but don't have the expertise to get them."
But McCain and Romney do have that temperament? Got to be joking
If the GOPe torpedo Trump, he has justification to break the agreement with the RNC and run as an independent. Trump is no blithering idiot like Ross Perot — I think he could win.
Yes he can. Because the Dems have nothing outside the box to offer.
Hussein was experienced?
I had a friend tell me today that she is 100% for Trump. This is a disillusioned Obama voter.
Trump is pulling in a huge amount of support from disaffected Democrats and Independents.
The country wants the Federal Government to put the interests of Americans first now. Been a long time coming.
I honestly don’t think they would do anything to force him to go third party, but I do think behind the scenes they will Goldwater him.
Trump will not have to go third party... The elites will have to go democrat.
Trump will not have to go third party... The elites will have to go democrat.

Or put up a third party candidate of their own, just to spite Trump.
Carson, Carson ..... oh yeah! I remember him. He’s so October...
GOPee = proven Losers-— LOSERS—— over and over again. Do they ever learn? NO-— and the definition of insanity is? and the definition of insanity is? and the definition of insanity is?... Classless, moron LOSERS...
Go Trump— go Cruz....
GOPestablishment doesn’t really care whether they win or lose elections as long as they maintain their positions inside the beltway. It means a smaller portion of the pie, but it is a huge pie, so they are satisifed — and as the minority, they don’t have to work as hard writing bills and such.
