He is running for president for heaven’s sake and needs to be able to present at least a token offer an evidence to corroborate a historical claim of such supposed major import.

Well of course he should. The fact that it doesn't matter to his supporters is what chaps you. Keep trying though something is bound to make a difference sooner or later.
