According to Catholic teaching that I’ve been close to for fifty or so years, we are to be aware that no one knows the place or time

No one that likes to tell us, my kids included, that they can read the signs in the old and new testaments has ever been able to tell us either why we are supposed to know this, why we’re supposed to believe them over the Catholic Church teaching or Jesus Himself that not even the Angels know, but they themselves find it so important that the antichrist is coming out of some stupid country very soon and has a red scar on his right butt cheek and his initials are IKE, for ‘I know everything’

End times prophesies are something I never heard from the Dominican nuns who for no known reason are so marginalized but who knew the bible and did their collective job, which was to teach us upper middle class New York brats how to read, write, and do math and how to behave virtuously, ditto the old Irish aunts, ditto the Italian neighbors, friends’ parents, local shopkeepers and deli owners whose establishments we regularly raided and who kept us in line, verbally when necessary

And I never heard a hint of any ‘the end times are near’ from any credible authority. Not until I got to the south where I encountered this

I asked clergy who have explained how the anti Christ is many things. It’s political correctness. It’s media takeover of our lives, for instance

I’ve been told we’ve been in the end times since John the Baptist announced Jesus’ impending arrival

I’ve been told, while terrifyingly awaiting the second blue moon of the year ending in a four or a six or something from a man that a group of people calling themselves ‘Catholics’ who said he was regularly hearing the Blessed Mother herself, this was “it”, that such a fright is sure good for your devotion - which it wa. But only once.

Don’t need to live in constant fear. It’s what I told my sister recently when she called to ask about the second blood moon coming up was it the end as they were saying? I said

I told her I have been told by many people through the years of living outside of that community that people claim to know who have no reason to claim to know. The point to signs. There’s as much warning in the bible against believing false prophets as there are predictions about when the end can be predicted.

As Rose Camerrari said, ‘Cosmo, we’re all gonna die.’ Seems as good as any prediction. And it’s in keeping with my faith, from an observation from the writer, Shanley, an Irish (American) observed his Italian (American) neighbors it’s a catholic view of life. I don’t go around telling people they have to think or believe this way. I

I just tell people who try to tell me to believe a different way when they try to frighten me and my kids and sisters while trying to claim prophet status that we’re just fine with our beliefs, and they’ve addressed end times prophesies quite thoroughly, thanks, get behind.

We’re all gonna die,

We Catholics know that. The good Cardinal W knew that He went to confession every day. That’s true.

You mentioned several times about different ones telling you this or not telling you that. If they are of the Christian faith, then presumably what they tell you comes from the Bible. Why do you leave what you believe totally to what someone else tells you. Go to the Bible and see for yourself.

That was the basis of Martin Luther’s teachings. Go to the word of God, the Bible and read for yourself what it says and see what you think. You only get a sliver of what is in the Bible listening to others.

So many subjects in our lives we read books and magazines or articles from the Internet to know more about them. Subjects like home repair, auto repairs, taking care of finances, using the computer and all the software.

Throughout the Christian age the Bible has been considered to be a book above all books. To me it is a magical book that is helpful to me and helped me to help others. It is shortsighted to leave your faith and eternal destiny totally in the hands of others.

“, we are to be aware that no one knows the place or time”

I don’t know if it’s Catholic teaching or not, but I believe the Boss Himself said that...
