Ted Cruz's moment has arrived.
Less than 10 weeks before Iowa voters their cast the first votes of the presidential campaign season in Feb. 1 caucuses, a new Quinnipiac poll shows the Texas senator statistically tied with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump for the lead in the state. Perhaps not so coincidentally, Cruz is tentatively beginning to take on the brash New York billionaire after months of cozying up.
Twice in recent days, the Texan has seized opportunities to distance himself from Trump's policies and rhetoric. First, Cruz disagreed with Trump after the New Yorker expressed openness to setting up a registry of Muslim Americans in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks. "I'm a big fan of Donald Trump's but I'm not a fan of government registries of American citizens," Cruz told reporters in Iowa, according to Politico. "The First Amendment protects religious liberty, I've spent the past several decades defending religious liberty."
Then over the weekend, he politely chided inflammatory rhetoric from fellow Republicans on immigration, when asked about Trump during an interview with the Associated Press. "Tone matters," Cruz said. "Are there some in the Republican Party whose rhetoric is unhelpful with regard to immigration? Yes." Cruz's campaign said to expect more distinctions to come.

So the video with Cruz himself preaching Dominionism "wasn't in his own words"? Cruz's stories about fire bombing houses or seeing particular people die (which he was no where near) are in his own words too. As are all the other padding in his resume.

I like Cruz a lot, but it sounds like he’s about to follow the others and take the plunge after trying to be the Anti-Trump.

He also should consider his political future if he ends up sounding like Jeb Bush. Up to now Cruz was positioned PERFECTLY to be Trump’s VP, now he’s pushing it a bit.

Did you watch the video I posted? If so what did he say in it that you do not agree with. This video was taking by my church there is no agenda other than getting American back to its Christian roots. So what does Cruz say in the video I posted that you do not agree with? I would be very interested to know.
I can tell you didn't even read any of it, nor listen to Rafael Cruz himself. You're slavish defense of Cruz is cute, but won't work with the rest of the electorate. Hence Cruz is he next "not" Trump in the first place... because he CAN be taken down, with little effort.

At the time, AP reported it as fact - I doubt Cruz had any reason to doubt it. I give Cruz a pass on that, but Trump should sue AP.
I don’t give Cruz a pass on ‘Tone’ though. That word needs to thrown into the ASH HEAP OF REPUBLICAN HISTORY - Given Bush Junior’s use of it to not throw half of the Clinton Administration in jail and not defend himself from attack.
I think that part of the reason that Obama is so FEARLESS when violating the law is that Clinton was allowed to TOTALLY GET AWAY WITH IT, thanks to Bush (the other part is that he’s black, of course).
Hopefully some of Cruz’s people on this site read this and explain to him that we don’t love people here unconditionally - we only love them when they behave.

That may be about right. I heard a GOPe guy on Medved (never got his name) say that before the Primary season the party elders got all of the potential candidates together and told them what was off limits for the campaign (implication being that they would lose financing, I guess). Top among them was immigration. Then guess what happened, the campaigning started and NOT A WORD ABOUT IMMIGRATION, not from Cruz, not from any of them. Money talks.
By the way, Trump wasn’t at that confab, as he wasn’t a potential candidate at the time.
