“Chilling”?
That’s chilling? They should have read: If you are reading this you are already dead.
Didn’t the allies do something similar before the Battle of the Bulge?
“German soldiers, get out of your tanks and run away; we’re going to bomb you.”
Times have certainly changed.
Big Media DID define Dear Reader’s last name for us to mean “cool”....
"He hates the trucks!"
I prefer “Don’t run, you’ll only die tired”.
That’s great! LOL
The only thing “chilling” is that the pamphlets were dropped in the first place.
Treason. Also it gave the militants enough time to set up an ambush for our pilots.
“Tidal Wave II”????
Is that really the name for this, or is the writer just a history nerd who’s being snarky?
I had an uncle who was a tail gunner in B-24s out of Libya who made it back from the original Tidal Wave ... identifying a leaflet drop by that name is incredibly insulting.
The only thing they should be dropping besides munitions is calling cards AFTER the devastation is wrought. That is what will be passed on to little johnnie jihadi in hushed tone bedtime stories. Not how nice we fight.
It would be OK if done over the blackstone during the hajj. Win-win.
President Al Baghdadi reports that he’s fine!
They really should make an epic movie about that battle. I’ve already written the script. =)
Spielberg and Hanks are working on that Mighty Eighth project of theirs, which I have very high hopes for.
We did do something similar in the last weeks of the war with Japan. We dropped leaflets on Japanese cities targeted for firebombimg and told the civilian population to flee, and more importantly, that dropping the leaflets was proof of their government’s inability to stop our attacksand they should petition their leadership to end the war.
But those were different circumstances. The Japanese were already militarily beaten but would not quit, and we were about to unleash atomic weapons on them.
Not to mention Peter Jackson’s Dambusters remake.
Even if they have to bend historical accuracy about Gibson’s dog.
