The tankers could be Turkish for all we know.

The bigger threat is American liberals doing their best to turn American sentiment against people killing jihadists.

We can deal with Muslim nukes if needed. They will never get off the ground. We arent dealing with muslim jihadis at all. So since you lib types want to interfere with the guy that is, don’t be shocked when someone points it out.

Today's tragic event will have significant consequences, including for Russia-Turkish relations ... Instead of immediately getting in contact with us, as far as we know, the Turkish side immediately turned to their partners from Nato to discuss this incident, as if we shot down their plane and not they ours. - Putin

“Taking into account that we signed an agreement on deconflicting with the US...”

But only AFTER they bombed the FSA and Western advisors. See how they worked it? They went after “Obama’s terrorists” first then signed an agreement. We knew this was in play when their Baghdad embassy refused to see US liaison officers. Just made them wait in the lobby until they left.

Assad sponsored and gave safe haven to ISIS, aka Al-Qaeda-in-Iraq, from 2004 - 2010.

The Russians are not against ISIS per se. They’re in support of Assad, Iran and Russia’s expansion into the ME to influence its energy supplies.

Not sure whether the RuAF has taken any of its AWACS to Syria. The arrival of AWACS will be a key indication of option 2 or 3 though.

Actually, there is a 4th option....turn the KGB loose and let them publicize all the dirty laundry of Erdogan. Secret bank accounts, back-door deals, etc. The KGB could bring down the government in a matter of six weeks if they published everything.

Good to know where Turkey stands.

I guess The Commie will start paying them reparations.

A country with a muslim leader will stand with muslims always. See Obama for a perfect example.

And the GOP funds his every whim.

“Where was the destination of those ISIS oil tankers that Putin took out?”

Valid but not topical to the shoot down. Russia is attacking Turkmen in Syria. Turkey is protecting their ethnic minority in Syria.

It is not about what Russia must, can or could do, but rather what it is forced to do. As I said, Russia is not weak - but it is not at all strong enough to directly take on NATO, and it is doubtful that Putin will take any measures that may even inadvertently trigger such. Which is why I said Option 1 is the most possible, with a tail-end chance for Option 2. I would be very surprised if any real action occurred, as that would mean that Putin is bluffing against a country (Turkey) that just shot down a plane and is thus not bluffing, and the fact that Turkey just called an emergency NATO meeting means that they have mentally thought out possible escalation and are thus pulling the NATO security blanket around themselves. That, by itself, says a LOT.

On the other hand, there is a small chance Putin may go for Option 3, and now that would be something else. Why? Because that's when that decision tree I referred to earlier comes into play, and some of those paths lead to somewhat angry letters and apologies, and others lead to TEOTWAWKI.

4th option is KGB type operations taking out Turkish leaders.

No war just people dropping dead that lead the country.....even more effective and what can Turkey do?

Like they have been slowly doing to Obama the last couple of weeks and the media does not care or actively hides?

If the KGB wanted to take down Obama....they would. Having a weak President around....is a positive....so why mess it up? Every time that the two meet....Putin probably lets the President know about the secrets, and Obama just sits there and fumes because they know.

lure the turks into syrian airspace and even the score x 10
turkey is an isis / islamic jihad supporter and the transshipment country for jiahdis in and out of syria from america and europe... our allies... a joke... in name only and because of nato... also a joke

REMEMBER THE ARMS THAT OBAMA SHIPPED FROM BENGHAZI (ONE SHIPMENT ALONE WAS 650 TONS VIA SHIP TO TURKEY) WENT DIRECTLY TO ISIS... THE AMBASSADOR WAS MEETING WITH THE TURK REP EARLIER THAT DAY... COORDINATING ARMS SHIPMENTS... obama had the stupid plan to use isis as the tool to take out assad... just like we used al queda to fight the russians... he was willing to let them rape and murder as long as the went after assad... that aint happening and isis took the opportunity to take 1/3rd of iraq and oil for funding thus no longer needing the ussa... PLUS TURKEY WAS BUYING THE OIL, THUS FUNDING ISIS... that is why obama didn’t bomb oil facilities and oil trucks... aiding and abetting he ENEMY... treason

... the Turks are obligated to attempt to force the offending aircraft out of their airspace.

How do you do that?

We (aviators) maintain multiple globally known frequencies (in the US and NATO they are known as "Guard" 121.5 and 243 MHz) that communication can be maintained to avoid situations like this.

The first stories posted this morning suggested that the Russian pilot ignored repeated attempts to communicate with them.

Only the aviators and ground controllers know for sure.

We may never know.

Putin is right. Turkey is on ISIS’s side. Why we have to continue to deal with them is ridiculous. Sure, it’s all about military strategy but every time we want to fly over their airspace, we have to beg and plead and bow down to their demands. Enough already. Declare it a terrorist country and be done with them.
