Executives from several television networks held a conference call on Monday to discuss Donald Trump's campaign treatment of the press, but no immediate action is expected to come from the first call, sources familiar with the call told POLITICO. Another call is scheduled for this afternoon.
Representatives from ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CNN discussed how embeds and reporters from outlets are being treated, including being pushed into media "pens." The Washington Post was first to report on the conference call.
It's unlikely a formal unified message will be sent to the Trump campaign unless all the networks agree on a response.
The Trump campaign has had several run-ins with the media recently. In one instance, a CNN reporter was told to return to the media "pen" or have his credentials revoked when he tried to film protesters in the crowd at a Trump event last week. A reporter from NBC News was told to return to the media area on Friday as she tried to interview attendees at a Trump rally before the event began.
Campaigns often keep reporters in designated media areas during campaign events. The areas often include risers for cameras and sometimes include desks and reserved chairs for reporters. Trump's campaign is far from the only one criticized by the media for its treatment of the press (see Hillary Clinton's in the first few months of her campaign). And several network sources cautioned that networks are in constant contact with one another on everything from pool feeds to how embeds are being treated and that the calls are just an extension of those conversations.
But Trump's overall approach to the media â including direct attacks on reporters and specific outlets â has been particularly harsh. His campaign has also denied credentials to outlets such as Univision, Fusion, BuzzFeed and the Des Moines Register, often in retaliation for another piece the outlet (or its editorial board) wrote or broadcast about Trump.
A Trump campaign spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment.
JournoList (sometimes referred to as the J-List)[1] was a private Google Groups forum for discussing politics and the news media with 400 "left-leaning"[2] journalists, academics and others. Ezra Klein created the online forum in February 2007 while blogging at The American Prospect and shut it down on June 25, 2010 amid wider public exposure. Right-leaning journalists later pointed out various off-color statements made by members of the list denigrating conservatives, as well as a seeming conspiracy to prop up then Presidential candidate Barack Obama. Others defended such statements as being taken out of context or simply a matter of private candor.

As I read this I see the gerbalists have their knickers in a knot over Trump.
Good. That is how it should be. No one is a better manipulator of the presstitutes than Donald J. Trump.
I hope they will try to sanction Trump. That should be good for about 10% bump come election day. Trump doesn’t need the msm to get his message out, and the media is terrified by that.
Actually, contrary to what the article says the spokesman for the campaign did issue a statement that was g f y.
If true, I'm salivating. So is Trump. His ratings won't be contained by that stupid 100% barrier if this comes out, especially if their caught plotting against him.
g f y?
Only one thing comes to mind and it is not very nice.
>>Executives from several television networks held a conference call on Monday to discuss Donald Trump’s campaign treatment of the press<<
OMG, that is RICH! The MSM has had it in for Trump and Carson from the very beginning.
God, they must get their man lessons from obozo!!!
Whiners.
But it is accurate and appropriate.
The liars got caught and are planning their next move.
your little statement let me figure it out...TFTC
Trump has spent decades dealing with the NYC mediaâ¦successfully.
These national political reporters are child’s play for him.
Whine on you babies !
You nailed it!
>> how embeds and reporters from outlets are being treated, including being pushed into media “pens.”
Wow, all that’s missing is to let media-hating supporters herd them from those pens into a rodeo arena with cattle prods, where riders on horseback are waiting to rope ‘em and hog-tie ‘em.
I’d pay money to watch that!
I’d pay MORE money to be one of the guys with the cattle prods!
When Utah Senator had Candidate jeb bush in Utah for a fundraiser, the media was ‘corralled’ in a chain link type fence away from the ‘invited’ guests; the candidate and the Senator....
What’s so different in that than the way Trump is doing...anything to complain and complain about Trump, because he says what we know about our ‘government media’ being corrupted...and they don’t like it...
>>g f y?
Only one thing comes to mind and it is not very nice.<<
