Gretchen Carlson sips her coffee with cream and smiles with great personal satisfaction about this news.

I haven’t seen her for awhile. A real ditz, as I recall, but boobs and blonde, so she should qualify.

[I sure hope it isn’t that McCain babe. ]

They would need a wide-angle lens to fit the three hosts on the couch...

A little more research—she is not a doctor.

I could have sworn I saw a chryon with the title when she first was with national Fox, but she may have just been reporting medical/health news.

I kinda doubt it but if true it was money well spent. Made her so much more intelligent.

Not too many women would do that today. Putting her kids first is admirable. God bless her.

Agree. Putting her children first IS admirable, and, sadly, relatively unusual in the last few decades.

This is one reason I admire Barbara Bush. Never liked some of Barbara's political opinions (which she had the good sense to keep to herself ... most of the time). But she was very firm in putting her family first.

Back to the topic of E. Hasselbeck - she had some kind of serious abdominal surgery in the last year or two. I hope she is not quitting because of ill health, but out of a realization that a mother's time is always of supreme importance to bringing up happy, well-adjusted, and good children.

You may have misunderstood my comment. I do not think it’s sickening for her to stay home, far from it! I choose to stay home with mine and have never regretted that decision.
I was attempting to say that it is disgusting that after that disagreement with joshy, she’s now gone. I don’t believe it was her choice. Just my own sense of how things are with the bullies at the top.

It’ll be Chelsea Clinton or Karl Rove in a dress.

Gag me with a spoon.

I dont iss Gretchen.

She was more polished than Elizabeth but too much of a feminist.

Agreed. Has nothing to do with being forced out. And nothing to do with Bagdad Josh!

Gretchen was given her own show at 2 pm; she had been on the dawn patrol for quite a few years after E.D. Hill got the boot. Early morning TV is a grind, especially if you have young children; get up between 2 and 3 am; at work by 4-4:30 and on the air at 6. And there’s plenty of prep for the next day after the show goes off the air. Lot of morning TV folks don’t get home until mid-afternoon, and you’ve got to hit the sack by 7-8 to get some sleep before it starts over again.

On the plus side, if you’re working at FNC or one of the networks, you are very well compensated for pulling the morning shift. Guessing Ms. Hasselbeck was making mid-to-high six figures at Fox.

Morning shows are even tougher at the local stations. Many of them now start their am newscast at 4:30, so the anchors are usually in by 1 or 2, and their producers are already at work when the 11 o’clock news is on the air. In many of the small markets, anchors are lucky to make $40K a year, and some of the producers are making less than 30K. Ah, the joys of trying to make a living with a degree in mass communications.

I’m glad. She seems like a very nice person but needed elocution lessons. Very hard to understand her mumbling sometimes.

Anna has been getting prominent airtime more and more.

I want to know where that little island is that Fox grows their blondes.

She is probably a wonderful woman. But I simply did not think there was good chemistry. I stopped watching them for Fox Biz.

PS - my vote for her replacement is the stunning and brilliant Katie Pavlich (assuming she would take the job!).

But I doubt Ailes would put her in that position. Katie is pretty serious, and Ailes seems to prefer zanier characters for that show.

Yes, resigning to spend time with the family is never a euphemism for getting whacked. Or maybe it’s true.

Hill was great and was only let go over some stupid flap about her saying something bad about Obama.

mid-to-high six figures

Try over $3 million. Major market locals make mid to high six figures.
