KU Grad Students Demand Prof Firing (SJWs Jacobins Strike Again)

I know you must be sick and tired by now of hearing about the ongoing Social Justice Warrior irruptions on college campuses, but it is important to keep track of them, at least the worst ones. Over the weekend, a professor (whose ID I confirmed) wrote to me to say:

Have you seen this? These little fascists are going to destroy this young woman’s academic career.

Naive liberal white woman prof thinks she should talk about race in a graduate classroom and the inevitable happens. The SJW Bolsheviks in the room pounce on her using the N word, used in a non-derogatory manner, and other so-called micro-aggressions. This woman is as stupid as someone who jumps into a tiger den at the zoo to try to pet the tigers.

Both of my sons are out of college at this point but, had this foolishness had been going on while they were matriculated, I would have demanded a refund of my tuition payments.

Lawrence, Kansas was founded by a Massachusetts organization to import abolitionists into Kansas Territory thereby ensuring that Kansas was admitted to the Union as a Free State. One of the most favorite watering holes on Massachusetts St. is the Free State Brewery. The town and the University have a 160 year history of championing emancipation, integration, and all manner of liberal causes.

I’m sure that this woman is a true blood leftie, but like a the unfortunate chicken who displays a drop of blood, she will be pecked to death by all of the other chickens who are incapable of forming an independent thought. This is certainly an affront to freedom and liberty, but I am having a very hard time feeling sorry for those leftie caught up in the Frenzy of the French Revolution. Heads will roll and the crowds will cheer and demand more.

You could not be more right. A 12 yr HS education in America up through the middle 1960’s graduated students far, FAR more prepared to face the world and become productive citizens than any graduate of a four year college today who has not specialized.

Lawrence is an amazing place. Our family has a total of six degrees from KU. My FIL was a professor emeritus. At one time Mr. Mercat and I lived there and we hated having to leave (not many jobs). For a long time we contemplated moving back, especially when we retired (we have) but now I wouldn’t consider it. We have a small hobby farm south of town where we go several times a month and do go the Free State Brewery several times a year but we really don’t care to be part of the community.

...and to top it off, they want to send everyone to college for free, regardless of entrance exams, confer degrees, and forgive all the student debt. Why not just save all the time and money and hand everyone a worthless college degree when you hand them their worthless HS diploma?!? Let them write what they want on it. It’s not like anyone believes any of this crap means anything anymore. It’s just silly.

I don't know maybe it's me; but when I attended College in the 80’s I didn't have time for all of this nonsense. I had to work and study my butt off to pass. When I went to class, it was rare that a professor got off topic of the subject they were teaching. When groups of students got together we studied.
Of course, that was in an era where you went to Collage to EARN a degree. The useless degrees of “Latino Studies”, African American Studies” etc were not offered.
