No, the problem was that early in his career, he gave interviews and the interviewee didn't give a damn about his point of view and went ahead and took what he said out of context anyway. This happened to him a lot.
So Rush said, the Hell with it, any reporter can read my website and get the truth and I won't have to bother sitting down with some lib reporter who's going to smear me anyway.
Rush usually says he does not do interviews ON HIS RADIO SHOW, mainly because his audience would rather listen to Rush rather than someone else. He is not a slave to it, though, and occasionally has interviewed people.
In the same way, I have not heard him say that he “does not do” interviews where he is being interviewed. However I have heard him say that he “does not like” being interviewed, partly because, what is the point, he is generally on the radio 15 hours a week! Plus his short promo pieces which in 30-60 seconds make better points than most 30 minute news specials. But he is not a slave to the issue of not liking to be interviewed, either.
So his “policy” (which he does not really have as a strict policy) is not changed. However, like you, I do think that it is a special situation whenever Rush decides to let himself be interviewed, maybe worth speculation. I would guess this appearance is more of a consultant / contributor in this instance rather than an interview. I am not going to watch though and will await comments.
