The VP has no legal role in steering legislation, nor in committee assignments.
It is a ceremonial title.
They Preside but customarily take no active role, my question was has any VP every tried to assert authority as the President of the Senate. Or is their any Authority they could assert if they pushed the issue? Just curious I know the role historically.
I watched during the course of Clinton's trial while a fumbling supreme court justice let the Senate Parliamentarian dictate every action. What a joke that was.
