New Orleans police released surveillance footage of Tulane University medical student Peter Gold being shot early Friday morning (Nov. 20) while trying to stop an apparent armed robbery at Magazine and St. Mary streets in the Lower Garden District.
Gold, 25, stopped his car upon seeing a man dragging a woman toward an SUV in the 1000 block of Saint Mary Street, police said. When he tried to help, police said the gunman pointed a weapon at Gold and demanded his money.
"The victim explained to the suspect, repeatedly, that he did not have any cash," NOPD said in a news release. "The suspect became enraged and shot the victim once in the stomach and attempted to shoot him a second time, but the gun jammed."
The gunman took the woman's purse and drove away in a gray or silver SUV, police said. She was not injured.

I just wonder how much more our society can take. You have all these so called "black lives matter" radicals taking over campuses when the vast majority of crimes committed in or around the campuses are black on black or black on white and these college kids know it. They are just too scared to bring it up.
This guy will be caught. His crime stoppers reward is up to 12,500. Crime stoppers works well here. People will sell out their own kin for that kind of money.
One thing is certain, to me at least. Government will never crack down on their own clients. It will be a spontaneous desire of their victims to defends themselves that will finally get things under control.

Really stupid move on the victims part. If you attempt something like he did, you better be ready to back it up and defend yourself.
This guy is extremely lucky to be alive.
In the last few minutes I’ve read a story in British paper about one father’s experience in the Bataclan, and stories elsewhere on FR about the guy who shot his wife, twins and father-in-law and another guy who stomped on a one-year old. Then this one.
This world really sucks.
#BLACKLIVESMATTER have possibly gotten rid of a Jewish (?) physician? Sounds like the thug life has taken over. This will never be the subject of a news analysis on CNN.

It’s remarkable how much we read about our country in the British press. Our press is out to lunch or worrying about more important issues like transgender rights.
Hope the med student makes a full recovery! Very courageous and situationally aware guy! He could have kept going straight and not turned into that alley, but he saw danger, got involved and probably prevented a rape or murder. Carry a .45 and know how and when to use it!
You are right bbell, there is no such animal. The government tells us this, and you know we can always trust what the government tells us, right? NOT.
In the comments at the source someone tries to accuse the shot white guy of racism because he saw a black man dragging a white woman by the neck and stopped to help.
Being unarmed, yes it would have been smarter and better for him not to have intervened. But heroic stuff isn’t always the smart choice. Brave soul dove straight into something he might not be able to get through alive, when he could have easily escaped.
We hang medals on guys for that kind of decision.

WITHOUT A DOUBT this guy has a HUGE rap sheet. Unless this crime is prosecuted at the STATE LEVEL (or higher) the city will be lucky if this animal spends more than 6 months in jail.
In New Orleans, and most ‘diverse’ cities, at this point, local judges simply equate jail with slavery...that simple. It’s time to end local control of justice - or simply STAY OUT of those places (and move decent schools out of there...or seal off with Trump walls).
