A cook who uses spice "conservatively" uses it sparingly. A cook who uses spice "liberally" is free-handed in its use.

For me, a conservative politician is like Ted Cruz, Reagan, and the Founding Fathers -- government must be applied conservatively, sparingly. That is, "conservative."

From everything I read of Trump's actual actions and most of his words, his tendency is to be free-handed in the use of government -- that is, "liberal." Even if he's registered in the Republican party.
