The following popped into my brain last night. Do not ask me why because I do not know: ;-)
SUBMARINERS

Submarine sailors are, indeed, a very strange breed despite the fact that their IQs have to be within the top 2% of the population. I suppose that all of us could qualify for MENSA but most are too dumb to realize it and/or are simply too 'uppity' to bother! Go figure! ;-)

This discussion is a memory of fifty years ago. Whether or not the Navy and Submarine Force of today have curtailed this behavior is unknown to me.

In all of the ports where submarines are based there are no bars or clubs that are designated as "Submariners'" bars or clubs. All bars or clubs generally have Skimmer, Airedale, Naval base personnel, Marine and Submariner patrons. During any given night in any bar or club, it was inevitable that some inebriated submarine sailor would shout,

"ANY SUBMARINE SAILOR WHO CAN'T TAP DANCE IS, ( To use the politically correct terminology of today's world, ) GAY!"

At that point one could see a bunch of submarine sailors, in uniform or not, jump up and start tap dancing all over the floor! That would cause uproarious laughter from everyone in the bar or club! I almost died laughing last night when I remembered this! And, before you ask.....Yes, I was an excellent tap dancer!

Those were the good ol' days! ;-)

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

#86: The Hollies: "Look Through Any Window"

The story of the Hollies should properly be viewed as the story of Graham Nash. He teamed with friends from Manchester, and in January 1963 they performed at the famous Cavern in Liverpool where they were seen by producer Ron Richards, who had been involved in the first Beatles session in 1961. He signed the band and would produce them until 1976.

Their first UK hits were all covers of American hits from the Fifties. In 1964, they began to write their own material, and their American breakthrough came when they recorded this song by Manchester's Graham Gouldman, whose songbook I covered a few years ago.

Three years later, Nash would team up with Crosby and Stills to make history. The American and UK tax IDs for this band are still kept current in the event they wish to tour again.
