Deace discusses that at the end of his article. Ultimately I think the only conclusion is that a V.P. just doesn’t sway people much. They vote for or against the top of the ticket.

I suspect they won’t do that but will play it safe and try to undermine Trump’s campaign from the inside so that Hillary wins. Like when McCain’s advisors fed negative stories about Palin to the press. Then later on they start appearing on TV and we can see they’re so RINO they’re indistinguishable from a Democrat.
Trump’s real problem would be how much GOP party support does he accept and how much does he try to use his own insiders. He’s indicated he wants to use the GOP’s money to fund his campaign in the general, not his own. That will be a problem and he will probably expose his campaign’s inner workings to more trojan RINOs that way.
