Jeb Bush Proves Money Isn't Everything In Politics
NPR ^ | 11/19/15 | Peter Overby

The superPAC backing Jeb Bush seemed to have everything it needed. It went into the primaries with the most money by far. Right to Rise USA had raised $103 million by June 30, with plenty of help from Bush before he officially announced his candidacy and could no longer legally ask for big contributions.

In September, Right to Rise put the money to work, announcing it would buy $24 million worth of TV ads in the first three nominating states: Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

-snip-

But Bush didn't get the intended result. On Labor Day, the Real Clear Politics average of national polls had him running third, at 9.3 percent. The latest RCP poll average has him at 5.3 percent this month. That's fifth place, behind Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson, and Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.

Bush trails Rubio, his home state rival, by 7 points. Adding insult to injury, Politico reported this week that, despite being vastly outspent by Bush, Rubio is getting more ads on TV for less money.

Bush has too much name recognition.

Jeb might have had a chance if he and his brother George actually had governed as conservatives. When Jeb decided to veer left, away from the conservative base of the party, he was toast. Stupid, stupid decision on his part.

¡Heb! is still running lots of ads on FNC. Funny to watch the talking heads tear him up, and then a ¡Heb! ad come on right after.

Karl Rove proved this 4 years ago. These GOP consultants are getting pretty good at blowing $100 million.

He could write each and every one of us a personal check out of that stash and we STILL wouldn’t vote for him.

No, but I might send him a Christmas card. Feliz Navidad or whatever.

Running Jebbie Bush for president was one of the most awful ideas ever. What were they thinking?

GWB was a two-term president only because he had weak opposition. And then it was only by the skin of his teeth that he pulled those victories out. Since leaving office, his legacy has suffered greatly - among conservatives! And they thought it was a good idea to run his younger brother who is even more of a milquetoast?

Even if ALL the Bushes were Reagan clones, I would not support John Ellis Bush. We are a Republic, not a dynastic regime, at least we shouldn't be.

You can change the packaging, advertising, price, etc., but the product is still a clunker.

Surrender Jeb!

Precisely why I'll never vote for him!

Instead of trying to run as a RINO, he should switch to the dems and run against The Beast, I think he'd get more support.

Let’s do the math. Bush can hardly get to 5% in the REPUBLICAN opinion polls. I wouldn’t expect much more from the democrats. Give it up. Quit wasting eveyones time.

Jeb is the greatest gift to conservative candidates in this election cycle.

By collecting lots of money up front and looking like he had all the momentum, he kept Mittens out of the race until it was too late.

Now his ego is keeping him from leaving, so he is denying Rubio a good chunk of the GOPe vote.

I'm hoping he stays in at least through Florida in order to keep Mittens and Rubio at bay.

Mucho Gracias Yebbe!

The Rovian’s are nervous. But then again, they are collecting obscene fees to push subpar candidates. It’s almost as if they really didn’t want to work to hard to collect a paycheck. In my neck of the woods we call that a liberal.

Bush II only won the first time because Nader peeled off just enough far left votes from Gore. If Ralph wasn't there, Gore would have easily won Florida and maybe a few other states and been president for 9/11.

Thank you Ralph for saving us from Gore.
