Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and ABC’s Jonathan Karl sparred briefly over Cruz’s plan for Syrian migrants during Tuesday’s “World News Tonight.”
Karl hit Cruz on a bill the senator plans to introduce that would keep Syrian migrants from entering the United States. Cruz explained to Karl that his legislation would bar not only Syrian migrants but any Muslim migrants from countries with a serious Al Qaeda or Islamic State presence - an idea very similar to legislation that Cruz’s fellow Republican presidential contender Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) announced earlier this week.

When Karl pressed Cruz on the fact that the bill would prevent Muslim migrants while permitting Christians to continue to enter the country, Cruz responded, “Can you say ‘radical Islamic terrorism’?”
“We should not be allowing Muslim refugees from countries where ISIS and Al Qaeda have control of significant amounts of territory,” Cruz said, “because of the inability of this administration, the inability of our intelligence sources to distinguish between who is and is not an ISIS terrorist.”
“At the end of the day, it’s not that complicated,” Cruz continued. “There’s no history of ISIS terrorists embedding in the Christian community and pretending to be Christian. If that were occurring, we would work to prevent it.”
“Christians are different in the Middle East, number one, because they are being persecuted and facing genocide, that is qualitatively different,” Cruz said. “ISIS is crucifying Christians.
This is our Churchill. I think Trump would also defend the country.
I’ll take either at this point. I’ve been a Cruz fan from the beginning, but living in NYC, I must say Trump has some beautiful buildings :)
No, he can't say that, because he is a politically correct weenie that lives in a politically correct social community, and so he therefore cannot speak the plain truth when it would offend his herd.
I love that Cruz trapped him into this no win position. The media needs to be confronted, and forced into these no win positions at every opportunity.
Let the worm turn.
IMO both Trump and Cruz are comprised of the same sturdy stuff the best of the founding fathers were made of!
Reagan would have loved Cruz.
Trump is an acquired taste :)
But living in NYC, nothing he’s said or done has shocked me :)
I knew he had to play the liberal-moderate game in NYC for business purposes.
I have had to do it on interviews. It is heartbreaking not being true to yourself, but that doesn’t put a roof over your head.
Once I’m hired, my true colors show :)
Bravo Sir.
Bravo.
Cruz = Churchill.
After 9-11, on the top floor of the Trump Tower, I was part of the team making a presentation to Trumps’s VP of construction regarding blast/fragmentation window film.
I could only see the profile of the ABC “news” employee’s face but it seemed to me that he came looking for a confrontation rather than information.
cool. Hope you got the business :)
It’s an awesome city. Imagine if it were conservative.
oh well.
Geez, where did Cruz buy that ill-fitting suit?
I just watched a short clip of Cruz in an ABC interview and it was the same thing - different color suit but also ill-fitting.
Did not get that business but negotiated a deal on another major building in Times Square.
And this surprises you?
Cruz is superb in pressing a point while seeming friendly and reasonable and pushing the dissenter into a corner.
What a great debater.
The same place you did!
Cerially, your bowl is super shallow.
He did come in looking to trap Cruz. It was pathetic. He got so much more than he bargained for.
This exchange is precisely why the media tries to avoid Cruz.
I’ll have one of whatever you’re drinking.
My bet is he calls a saucer a soup bowl. A great example of the shallowness and the rudeness that trump and his followers leave everywhere they go. I thought that the Paulist were rude!
It is ghastly!
Some men just seem unable to dress themselves properly...lol
Cruz needs to let his wife outfit him and stick to what he does so well... i.e. making reporters look like fools.
BTW: I have no discernible fashion sense myself... but at least I can take pride in the fact that I am in this small way a kindred of the fine Mr Cruz...lol
