China’s President Xi Jingping has condemned the killing of a Chinese hostage by Islamic State extremists as Beijing confirmed for the time on Thursday the identity of the mainland captive as Fan Jinghui.
The Islamic State group said on Wednesday that it had killed Fan and Norwegian captive Ole Johan Grimsgaard-Ofstad after earlier demanding ransoms for the two men.

To heck with bringing them to “justice”. Sprinkle their body parts around the desert.
May be not about the killed hostage. However, this kind of brazen challenge to “Middle Kingdom†which aspires to be an all-powerful overlord of the world cannot be acceptable to Chinese regime. It is a serious offense to their credibility.
Would that ISIS could get the Chinese government really ticked. They could send 100,000 foot soldiers and never miss them.

I read elsewhere that ISIS tortured the Norwegian on video, and used the videos in an attempt to exact ransom. I wonder if they did the same with the Chinese fellow.
They could send 1 million and not miss them. China has the capability to put AT LEAST 200 million trained, armed and ready men into the field at any given moment.
And roughly 20 million of those men have NO HOPE of finding a babe, given the one-child policy there. They would likely enjoy going to the Middle East, to have some ‘fun’.
ISIS needs to be VERY CAREFUL who they terrorize. The Russians and Chinese are NOT into making excuses for them. They will make their lives, quite painful, instead.

The Mainland of China is clearly intent on its own greatness.
It also needs to be remembered that the brief period after signing an unfavorable treaty with Britian and a somewhat less obnoxious version with the USA (that iteration was a bit less high handed) that China long had as its policy that doing business with them was a privilege you had to swallow your pride to have.
Their historical memory is not short.
You don’t have to go back to the Romans in the west (you dared just knowingly beat a Roman citizen and you could well consider yourself seriously screwed) since even the British Empire showed that a powerful enough nation could force others, as they did China, to consider their subjects often untouchable by legitimate nations.
Sure, the ChiComs may not give a crap if a random Chinese civilian dies in China BUT they may care quite a lot if they die under questionable circumstances elsewhere. It’s a matter of pride, if not also ethics or morality.
Go ahead, ISIS, piss off China and Russia. There’s only one country in the world who could take on those two, and it ain’t islamic.
