Let’s hope this is a hoax.

It would have huge implications otherwise.

It may not be. We were taught in a recognition class for first responders that a can like that could be a booby trap.

Why would they show us the exact bomb...?

It would mean they cant use the same successful tactic —an act of illogic.

What, no more Schwepps? Just Canada Dry?

The 4 ounce rule the TSA has, is there because it doesn't take much mass of explosive to cause critical damage to an aircraft.

If I remember correctly, the bomb that destroyed Pan Am 103 in 1998 used well under 1,000 grams of Semtex plastic explosive. It was small enough that the physical volume size was probably not much more than a tennis ball.

In short, 500-700 grams of a modern plastic explosive exploding in a pressurized cabin equals one big initial hole in the fuselage and subsequent structural failure of the whole fuselage.

No more drinks on airlines

Just another example of the government’s need to maintain contradictory and asinine political correctness will slowly and steadily erode civil liberties for everyone else

I assume these cans are stored against the wall of the airplane’s fuselage.

Not necessarily. A plastic explosive about the size of my fist can easily blow through (or seriously damage) an eight-inch thick concrete wall in normal atmosphere pressures. Now do that with about 300-500 grams of the same plastic explosives going off in a pressurized cabin of an airplane at altitude.

There are fewer low skilled jobs.

Food service is one of them.

Food service workers tend to be immigrants and minorities as the old majority refuse to repopulate or accept this kind of work.

There is no way to effectively vet / screen these employees.

Just saying.

Let’s put that another way.

Food service isn’t considered an important enough job to pay high enough wages and pay for effective security screening of the employees.

Every American airport I have been to in the last decade seems to be almost exclusively staffed by Muslims (with many women wearing those head coverings). How did that happen?

First lesson down range...
If you didn't drop it, don't pick it up.

Still, that was too complicated for some.

“Why would they show us the exact bomb...?”

So TSA can now tell every passenger that we can no longer bring drinks on a plane.
