GOP leaders: National security will end Carson and Trump campaigns
Politico ^ | 11/17/15 05:57 PM EST | By Katie Glueck and Daniel Strauss

Donald Trump and Ben Carson have demonstrated more staying power than anyone predicted. But now, after the terrorist attacks on an American ally, Republican elders think their party's flirtation with inexperience is nearing its end.

The reemergence of foreign policy atop the Republican agenda will force voters to reevaluate the outsider candidates, particularly as both Trump and Carson display a lack of knowledge about national security and the terrorist threat, party stalwarts said.

"The losers are going to be Donald Trump and Ben Carson on national security," said Katon Dawson, the former chairman of the South Carolina GOP. "As the Republican base sobers up, they are the two, if this story lasts a long time, it's going to hurt."

Indeed, in interviews with current and former GOP chairs, veteran operatives, lobbyists and strategists, the long-held conviction that neither Trump nor Carson will win the Republican nomination has only strengthened since the attacks in Paris last week.

Fred Malek, who has advised multiple Republican presidents and is not affiliated with any contender this cycle, said the inexperience Trump and Carson reveal in their rhetoric will drive GOP primary voters toward another candidate.

*sigh*

I’m mildly a Trump supporter; I like what the guy has to say about immigration and how he takes on the media but I still have reservations about him.

Having said that ...

Another “It’s curtains for Trump ... now ... oh, wait! Now, it’s over for Trump ... or ... is it? Wait!” article?!

Cue the “Aw, geez!” guy!

Lol, Trump’s been more correct on Syria and ISIS than any other candidate. He said from the first that we should go after their financial assets and bomb the oil facilities. He’s also said we should coordinate with Russia to take them out.

Lack of knowledge of national security never stopped Obama from getting elected.

“”As the Republican base sobers up, they are the two, if this story lasts a long time, it’s going to hurt.””

Insulting the base, that’s the way to get their support.

“Trump is the main candidate for ending illegal immigration and, though he changed his position, against the “Syrian refugees” (who aren’t for the most part either).”

He originally did say we should take some in. Then the very next day, he said he saw pictures of the ‘refugees’ and there were a lot of strong men and few women. So he said it could be a Trojan horse.

So I’m not concerned that he flipped after getting more information- and being the first to point out the military-age male demographics and Trojan horse threat immediately after.

It’s good that the RINO losers are telegraphing their strategy.

They’ll try to Palinize Trump and make him look ill prepared.. lots of pointless trivia questions in the upcoming debate etc.

Want to drive the GOP establishment hacks insane?

Call Trump “the presumptive GOP nominee.”

You know that’s what they would be calling Bush if he had Trump’s poll numbers.

[Well let’s wager a bit: If Trump is wrong, he should step out of the race. And if this idiot is wrong, he should step off the ledge at the top of Trump Tower.]

If that includes not having a parachute,....good bet.

Run drug tests on Katie Glueck and Daniel Strauss and send them a case of Depends.

Their wet dream posing as an news op ed is pathetic re Trump.

The attacks on Paris and Obozo’s Syrian invasion of America aka his Syrian immigrant program may put Trump at 50%.

Obvious, straightforward, and simplistic tactic: Recapture their narrative and coerce low information voters towards the candidate of their choice.

Blatantly obvious.

I highly doubt they will be as successful as they believe, but then again, it is what they know, and it is their MO.

I sincerely hope that more Americans do pay attention and realize the reality of what and how they are thought of as simple minded fools who will do as they are “advised”.
