An interesting take on the "refugee" problem at Germany: How Did the Pro-Asylum, Pro-Immigration, Pro-Refugee Idea Occur

Recaps:
1. They never saw it coming.
2. The Berlin crowd leading the country aren't the same competent group who lived for several decades in Bonn.
3. The population spiral.
4. The willingness to look through the Islamic threat and try to think of the bulk of Muslims being friendly.
5. The acceptance of multi-cultural values.
6. The efforts of the news media to make the Syrians into victims.
7. Cheap help.
etc.

A lot of this sounds familiar.

Re 5, Germany is singularly vulnerable. Thanks to Adolf & Co., the very idea of nationalism in Germany has become suspect to Germans themselves. So they might become really sappy for all the multicultural crap where a nation with a less extreme history would say WTF? It’s overcompensation, and it is not healthy.
