Oh, I’m sure mass murderers like Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot had their pleasant moments.

We saw Downfall when my son was about 16. An accounting of Hitler’s time in the bunker, written by one of his personal secretaries. My son asked ‘why is she so sympathetic to Hitler?’. I told him that all she saw was the nice boss, she wasn’t aware of the rest of the story. I’m sure that most mass murderers have moments when they are compassionate. Those moments could never make up for the evil they do.
