A “friendly” is a game that has no bearing on World Cup standings. You could lose all of your friendly games and it doesn’t matter. As long as you win your qualifiers, you can still advance in the World Cup standings.

What the heck is a "friendly". Just guessing, but I'd say it is a match that is not part of a league season or a tournament.
