Refugees headed to 180 towns, but avoid D.C. and other expensive cities
The Washington Times ^ | November 17, 2015 | Stephen Dinan

As President Obama presses communities to accept Syrian refugees, his current hometown of Washington, D.C., is likely to be spared much of the pain.

There are about 180 communities across the U.S. that welcome refugees, but some of the more obvious cities, including San Francisco, New York and, yes, Washington, aren't high on the list because they are just too darn expensive for the refugees.

Instead, the top major cities are places such as Atlanta, San Diego, Houston, Dallas, Chicago and Boston, the State Department says. And there are a host of medium-sized cities as well: Boise, Idaho, Nashville, Tennessee, Tucson, Arizona, Buffalo, New York, and Erie, Pennsylvania, are all on that list, the department said in September as it laid out plans to take 10,000 Syrian refugees this fiscal year.

Handling refugees spans multiple government agencies, with the State Department involved on the front end, Homeland Security overseeing the vetting and the Office of Refugee Resettlement within Health and Human Services responsible for resettling the refugees once they're here.

The ORR is the same office that is handling the ongoing surge of illegal immigrant children on the border over the last few years, and it relies on a network of nine non-profits -- six of them faith-based -- to place the refugees in communities that can handle them.

It is insanity. Admitting refugees from places such as Syria “is like extending a personal invitation to ISIS members to come and live here and try to destroy us from within.” (Donald Trump in CRIPPLED AMERICA)

Swell. Of the 6 cities in Ohio, one of them is 20 miles from here. I can smell them already.

Also, thanks for the warning...

Not only too expensive, but they are also Marxist's strongholds. The liberals don't want to face the consequences of their folly. They're bringing in these mad dogs to hopefully neutralize themselves and the conservatives.

My understanding is it's all Feds. Refugees have legal status once they're here and can go anywhere. The feds choose the agencies resettling them. Don't think there's much the states can do. Refugee compensation and welfare are federal. Everyone, even illegals get schooling. Maybe some states could fiddle with Medicaid eligibility.

The one check is Congress, the President's ability to admit refugees is legislative. I believe currently it's about 80,000 or 90,000. Think the feds determine from where. Congress could restrict the countries we admit them from, or reduce the number. But they'd have to be able to override a veto. And if the President brings in 200,000 instead of 80,000, all Congress can do is impeach him, which won't happen. Hopefully we'll avoid an attack in the near term, which means it won't even be an election issue. The next President or two can deal with it.

That chair just might be souped up and really fast -in order to chase and catch the ‘bustards’, you know. One thing for certain, the man won’t be inviting any hitchhikers along for a ride. Though he sits in a chair - he is still a much taller man than the won in DC.

Muslim jihadis and illegal socialist mexicans will get along quite nicely. One side has plenty of cash and weapons, and the other side has the will to use those resources to kill Americans.

Texans may want to lock down their border, and squash anything that tries to scurry across, at least for the time being.

The feds won’t help you, and in all likelihood, will side with these vermin against you. That gives you the excuse to kick out the feds too.

So go on and do it. Set the example, and see who follows your lead.

Thank you, SJackson.

“The next President or two can deal with it”.

For sure. A republican president is going to have one big job and mess to start cleaning up. If it’s Hitlery, she finishes us off.

They also get monthly payments from the State Dept. It is cleaver to place them away from DC so DC will not see them until its too late.

My son and daughter-in-law own a home in D.C. a few blocks from a recently built cathedral-sized mosque. They're well within the crater if it is rigged for a nuclear suicide homicide bombing.

“That gives you the excuse to kick out the feds too.”

Just before the last federal election, the Justice Dept. said they were sending federal agents to monitor Texas elections in the polling places.

Gov. Abbot signed an executive order for Texas Rangers to arrest any federal agent coming across our border to go to our polling places. They were shut out. Don’t mess with Gov. Abbott.

I understand your concern and believe it’s well founded.

The sorry excuse of the _resident we have doesn’t give a whit about carrying out his oath of office, his actions for most of his tenure have proved it.

Give them a couple hours and those 180 towns will be 180,000 towns.
