"Secret plans for a new Russian nuclear torpedo system have been shown on state-controlled television in what the Kremlin said was an accident.

A close-up of a confidential document detailing "Ocean Multipurpose System: Status'6 was broadcast for several seconds by Channel One Russia and NTV during coverage of a meeting between Vladimir Putin and military officials."

War or the possibility of such always brings out the best in weapon development!

Thank you Obama!!

1,000 foot tidal wave??? How many megatons would that require?

Any nuke that could create such an explosion to create a 1000 foot wave that could wipe out the east coast would scatter tiny chunks of what used to be earth throughout the solar system.

In short, SCi-fi, not reality.

If we had one we could take care of those islands China created instead of playing chicken with them.

Re: The Economic Collapse's Michael Snyder "While the eyes of the world are on ISIS, Russia is creating weapons unlike anything the world has ever seen before. Plans for a giant self-propelled nuclear torpedo that can create a giant tsunami more than 1,000 feet tall--

Gadzooks! What ever Michael Snyder is smoking... the Obamanation appears to be smoking it, too--

I love these wacko ideas. Oooh, let’s design a nuclear torpedo that will wipe out entire coastal cities with really massive tidal waves.

But wait, wouldn’t that same bomb vaporize most of the targeted city? Aren’t you actually limiting the radiation fallout by having it explode underwater? And really, tsunamis are not the most effective population or infrastructure destroyers. And of course, the techniques and technology to deliver such a nuke by air is far more a known element than some mysterious underwater torpedo delivery. I think the last public release of data from the US mainline torpedos indicates only a 5% chance of catastrophic failure of the delivery system.

I’d certainly feel more comfortable with tsunami torpedos than your average submarine launched ICBM.

No Superpower has ever detonated a multi-megaton warhead in deep water.
Crossroads Baker scared people so bad they abandoned 20kt deep water shot till I think Wigwam.

A 25MT device detonated just inside the Continental shelf could possibly create such an event.

Why chance it with an underwater torpedo? Why not just use a nuclear air burst device and achieve a better result that is already proven technology? Article is pretty funny.

I don’t know if this is the drone sub that was previously reported or if it is the drone sub that carries this torpedo but the drone aspect means the following:

1. It’s ability to stay underwater indefinitely is alarming.

2. Because something will go wrong while its waiting and nobody is on board to fix it.

Those drone cars have their share of bugs.

An EMP nuke would be a whole lot easier, using existing technology and delivery devices.

Wow! Now I won't be afraid of the “Global Warming” terrors.
I have the 1000’ tsunami to worry about. My home is only 90 feet above sea level. I live about 25 miles from the beach and there are no mountains in my state. What am I to do?

AlGore, help me!
