The problem with Cruz is I don’t think he could win the general election. He’s just not that well known and it’s taken him months to approach double figures in the Republican primary polls. It will take some time for less informed voters to become comfortable with Cruz and decide they want to see him as president.

Far better if he ran as VP with Trump or continued on in the Senate. Maybe a SCOTUS appointment.

You are wrong on your logic there. Once we get into a two person race, name recognition won’t be an issue. It will come down to strategy and the ability to frame the issues. Cruz is a master in both of these areas. I think “likability” will have an impact as well and this is one area Cruz isn’t as good as a Rubio, Carson, Trump or Obama. Fortunately, Hillary’s likability is terrible so it shouldn’t be a problem.
