Trump: Why I may have to go to war with Cruz...GOP front-runner puts Texas senator on notice

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump just put rival Ted Cruz on notice: Get too hot and I'll have to take you down.

Describing the senator from Texas as "nice and supportive," Trump told CNBC’s "Squawk Box" on Monday that the two candidates have similar ideas on many of the issues, including border security and the need for a wall to keep out illegal immigrants.

"[But] If he catches on, I guess we'll have to go to war," Trump said of Cruz, who's seen a bit of a bump nationally and in the early contest states of Iowa and New Hampshire since last week's Republican debate.

If Cruz is on the ticket I could accept a loss in 16’. If Trump is the nominee and he loses, I would be a very angry man. I just don’t trust him.

That’s because he’s a Johnny come lately disgusting excuse for a conservative. We despise Trump because he is NOT a conservative, he just plays one on TV. And we are utterly and completely stunned that fellow FReepers cannot see it....merely because he SAYS something they like on immigration, all of his other numerous and vile positions he’s taken throughout all of the rest of his life are just glossed over. And a great many of us will absolutely not ever vote for the charlatan.

Someone above said they can’t wait for trump or Cruz to debate Hillary. Hillary will DESTROY Trump in a debate...not on substance (although Trump has even less of that than Hillary too) but because she and the media will play the gender card the first time he spouts his bloviating, attack dog, pontificating BS....and the sheeple will eat it up.

Trump is a whiny baby. I would be amazed if Ted does not clean his clock.

Whiny baby? Nice.

Not.

Here's something for you to whine about....

Since he chose to question Carson’s religious conversion, it seems perfectly appropriate to question
Trump’s, as you say, conveniently timed political conversion.

Supporters of the 2nd most conservative candidate here have an irrational hatred of Trump.

You are saying Trump is more conservative than Cruz???????? I think I have heard it all now.

“I’ve notice most Cruz suporters have nothing but disdain for Trump, and spew the most hateful drivel about him. There are a FEW exceptions.”

That’s why I don’t think they’ll vote for Trump even if it meant voting for Cruz. They’d cut off their hero to spite their irrational hatred.

I’ve always wanted a Trump/Cruz ticket - not the reverse because Cruz is softer on illegals than Trump. He’s only now come our with anything about the illegals here, and it’s still vague. Before he just refused to say, starting Americans didn’t want to have that discussion! That was condescending, unlike him. Appeasing his donors will not matter with A Trump ticket.

Aww, the crying girl picture again. I guess you’ve run out of substantive things to say again. For a woman of your advanced years, I would have hoped for something less infantile.

Trump is easy to love but he certainly does not fear God. Cruz because the only thing we have to fear is God Himself.

Loved how Sarah worked that in about Trump (not being owned by donors/special interest groups).

“Talk about a war...if The Donald goes after Cruz, FR will get to be pretty bloody, pretty quick. “

Little Roundtop at Gettysburg comes to mind.

I’d like a Trump/Cruz ticket. I’d vote for Trump in the primary (not that it will matter since our primary is so late) and either in the general.

Then why isn’t he?

Because some kind of gentlemen's agreement or truce was in place, as evident in no negative comments between the two.

Looks like the "trusty" trump is about to pull a 1939 Germany.

“Not one Trumpet has explained with any plausibility that Trump won’t revert and flip flop to previous positions. “

He’s not beholden to a single donor.

Whoever has stopped Cruz from being strong on illegal immigration, particularly the illegals here and H1Bs, has the purse strings. They’ll expect payback. He’s finally just now come out somewhat stronger, yet still vague about the illegals here. For someone so articulate and usually conservative, this is extremely worrisome.

How many supposed "conservatives" have we voted into office, only for them to turf out to be flaming lefties?

Trump isn't a lefty of any stripe.

Primary season on Free Republic... reminds me of an old sci-fi story- maybe it was a Star Trek episode - about a planet that had a ‘crazy time’ when everyone was irrational for a period.

No, not Star Trek. The episode I’m thinking of was “The Naked Time”. But I’m sure there’s a classic sci-fi story on the theme of a ‘crazy season’.

At least we haven’t had mass bannings... yet.

Well I, for one, can NOT accept losing the '16 election! If we do, you can forget about this country and plan on your move; though I have no idea just where there is to go.

Just why and about WHAT don't you trust Trump on?

Yes maybe Trump will teach Cruz how to file bankruptcy several times and stick it to the lenders. Because that’s all he could teach Cruz. I will never vote trump. Cruz or lose.
