Feinstein breaks with Obama: 'ISIL is not contained'

Sen. Dianne Feinstein sharply contradicted President Barack Obama on Monday, disagreeing with his claim that the Islamic State is "contained."

"I've never been more concerned," the California Democrat and Intelligence Committee ranking member told Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC Monday. "I read the intelligence faithfully. ISIL is not contained. ISIL is expanding."

"They just put out a video saying it is their intent to attack this country. I think we have to be prepared," she continued. On Monday, ISIL warned it could attack Washington if the U.S. participated in France's response to the events in Paris.

"We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day God willing, like France's and by God, as we struck France in the center of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center in Washington," a man in the video said, according to Reuters, which could not verify the video's authenticity.

Feinstein said she hoped that the U.S. would work with allies to put together "coalitions and attack plans in more than one place at a given time."

Of course ISIS is not contained.

In the speech Obama just gave at the G20, the President humiliated Ben Rhodes and threw the poor guy under the bus with his on the air admission that ISIS is operating in Libya.

This directly contradicts the talking points that Ben Rhodes was trying to sell on the Sunday talk shows about how Obama’s comments on ISIS being contained were true and accurate because President Obama was referring the fact that ISIS is geographically contained in Syria and Northern Iraq.

Rhodes touted this containment as a major Obama Administration policy win because Obama had ISIS tied up in Syria and as a result Isis was blocked from spreading it's influence to other countries such as Libya or other regions such as Europe or the United States.

This of the cuff admission also directly contradicts previous Obama denials that ISIS was a factor in Libya as well as in Syria

And her irritation and anger will lead her to do what? Will she stand up for an aggressive attack against Isis? Will she oppose the pResident’s bringing in 200,000 Syrian terrorists? Or will she just do nothing?

DiFi isn’t automatically wrong on matters of national security. You have to read her views on an issue and decide. Even Boxer isn’t 100% wrong on all political matters, but the proverbial stopped clock does a lot better than she does. Obama is trying for 100% wrong (and as people here have pointed out, if he were merely incompetent, he would get some decisions right purely by chance.)
