I’m old enough to remember that the US attorney general used to have a list of organizations that advocated the violent overthrow of the United States. The KKK was on that list, along with various communist groups, etc. To hold a federal job, you had to sign a statement swearing you were not a member of one of those organizations.

Can there be any good reason why we don’t have such a list today?

Well obviously its stereotyping. There are plenty of radical Islamic terrorists that don’t want to take over the U.S, they want to destroy it. Stereotyping the two will offend somebody. /s

Would have to include all the Democratic Black Caucus and most all other Democrats, so it won't happen.
