reets in the downtown area of the District, just south of Dupont Circle, are blocked off in the wake of a barricade situation.
As of 8:20 a.m., K, L and M streets are blocked off between 18th and 21st streets.
D.C. police say they’re dealing with someone who has barricaded themselves inside a building in the area and is undergoing a mental health crisis. They say the person has been contained, but the investigation continues. There have been no injuries.
The same association occurred to me.
“mental health crisis” Im suspecting codespeak for Muslim. If it were a white or black guy it would be “crazed lunatic”.

Islamic State warned in a new video on Monday that countries taking part in air strikes against Syria would suffer the same fate as France, and threatened to attack in Washington.
The video, which appeared on a site used by Islamic State to post its messages, begins with news footage of the aftermath of Friday’s Paris shootings in which at least 129 people were killed.

Since when are they closing off blocks of a city for someone “mentally disturbed”? This could be a logistics problem since all LIBs are mentally disturbed.
You're both looking at this wrong. Even if it's a guy with a butter knife the pols HAVE to have a show of force. Not to mention getting all that OT and hazard pay for the unionized goon squads known as SWAT and the "police".

CBS News HQ and NHK Japan broadcasting are inside that cordoned-off area. Peace Corps building seems to be at the center of the six-block area.
