A coordinated terrorist attack hit Paris Friday night, killing more than 120 people, injuring hundreds more â and sending shock waves of grief, fear and anger across France.
The attacks struck multiple sites across the city simultaneously â explosions outside the national stadium, a hostage situation in a crowded concert hall, a barrage of gunfire at multiple cafes and restaurants. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks, which French president Francois Hollande called "an act of war."
As Paris went into lockdown and French investigators sought the attackers, the French were not alone in their grief: around the world, cities and individuals expressed their sympathy and solidarity.
From Brazil to Iran, from Sweden to Ramallah, here are 33 images of the world reaction:

Condolences. Very nice NPR.
Why is Nidal Malik Hasan (Ft. Hood November 5, 2009) still alive?
R.I.P. America’s finest
I’m sure they do the same at “candlelight vigils”.
They did it at my church I was attending in Texas for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
I say execute the islamic terrorist bombers, but that’s just me. Well, the remaining one, anyways, should have been.
Indeed. Enough of all this emotional response. It’s long past time to take arms.
It was far from meaningless to us after 911. It was healing.
France has stepped up their bombing campaign.
More than Obama will allow.
That will last until the Pols think the people will no longer be attentive. Then it will be business as usual....importing thousands upon thousands of raggie camel humpers so they can rape and murder on a smaller scale.
Only NPR could be OK with “Liberty Equality Fraternity” - as they are utterly clueless of the atrocities committed, under that phrase, by the 18th century “Republicans” of Revolutionary France during the Reign of Terror. Research the war on the Vendee (pronounced Von Day) if you want to read of actions that make what the modern Islamist do look like those of the boy scouts.
A 20 Megaton nuclear blast would be more appropriate.
Right on!!! Turn Raqqa a LARGE city wide crater.
in the meantime....I had to clean the litter boxes for the stupid cats.
PLEASE...can our country beat that?
An eye-opening post. When I clicked I thought I’d see hundreds of dead muslims all over the world. Nope, I knew better but that is what the photos should have shown.
We will all just cry ourselves to death. All that will be left of us will be our bloodied teddy bears, deflated balloons and melted down candles.
When all of us are gone the muslims can use the teddies for target practice.
Until I see a response that includes the bodies of dead Islamic Terrorist there has been no response to Friday’s Terrorist Attack on Paris.
All the posters, memorials, colored lights and flag overlays will not prevent or mitigate the next Islamic Terrorist attack, get used to it.
Terrorists have always dealt with violence to achieve their means. This is as true today as it was on July 28, 1914 at Sarajevo at the start of World War I (direct causalities of more than 16 million killed) as is today, two days after Paris. They understand nothing else.
These photos are great and heartwarming; but guns and extermination of the threat will bring actual peace.
