Romney: ISIS 'a cancer that metastasized' under Obama's watch
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/15/15 | Daniel Chaitin

Posted on 11/15/2015 4:42:55 PM PST by markomalley

Mitt Romney is blaming President Obama for "doing the minimum" to fight the Islamic State.

In an op-ed published Sunday, the 2012 Republican presidential candidate criticized Obama for having said "we have contained" the Islamic State in an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos one day before a series of attacks hit Paris, for which the Islamic State claimed responsibility. Romney said the U.S. needs to "eradicate" the Islamic State, not contain it.

"The president was right when he called the Islamic State a cancer," Romney said, "but it is a cancer that metastasized on his watch. Paris is proof."

The U.S. year-long airstrike campaign has not been sufficient, Romney added, and called for military experts from the U.S. and NATO to create a comprehensive strategy that would incorporate the forces of the Kurds, Turks, Saudis, Egyptians and Jordanians.

His remarks come as France launched airstrikes against the Islamic State on Sunday, carried out in coordination with U.S. forces, in retaliation for the terror attacks in Paris that left 127 dead and over 350 injured.

Romney decried the Islamic State's propaganda campaign and urged Muslim nations to come together and "immediately engage in a sustained global campaign to promote tolerance and eschew violence."

Romney also addressed the potential threat of the stream of refugees escaping conflicts in the Middle East, one day after a Greek official announced that a Syrian passport was reportedly found near the body of one of the gunmen responsible for the Paris attacks. A Greek official announced that the passport was processed on a Greek island in March.

"The West must stop the insanity of welcoming hundreds of thousands of people from the Middle East without knowing who exactly they are," Romney said.

"Only America can lead this war, and that leadership means being willing to devote whatever resources are required to win — even boots on the ground," Romney continued. "We have the best-equipped and most dedicated military for good reason. The president must stop trying to placate his political base by saying what he won't do and tell Americans what he will do."

Don’t fear it. Accept it. He will run. He will gut support from all but Cruz and he will likely get the nod because people here proved they will vote for him once. They will do it again.

Accept that conservatism id lousy with liberals and we are going to end up destroyed by CANCERvatism.

Or fight them. We all have a choice folks.

More directly than that.

Obama forced a renaming of Al-Qaeda to ISIS because Benghazi was an illegal/unconstitutional gun-running operation to supply military arms to the rebels in Syria, who was Al Qaeda.

This is why Hillary! and Obama allowed Americans to be slaughtered. If they saved those Americans, it was too great a risk that the gun running would be exposed, and that Hillary and Obama would be guilty of high treason (in the literal sense) for supplying military arms to people we are at war with.

So, one of their legalistic loopholes was to rename Al Qaeda “ISIS” so that they weren’t supplying arms to Al Qaeda but some completely different group, that they can spin was on our side all along (or so they thought) — all BS of course.

As usual, Romeny is severely off the mark here...

No, actually, Islam is the cancer, and ISIS is but a metastasis that formed completely under 0's watch.

That’s part of it. The other part is simple: Obama created this cancer by abandoning the gains we had made in Iraq. So, Obama planted the seeds of the cancer that is now metastatic.

You know, if the GOPe wins and shoves another liberal down our throats, it may almost be worth the complete destruction of our nation to watch Hillary win and for the GOP to lose by 80 or 90 percent.

Just to finally shut those back-stabbing m effers the hell up for eternity.

Die, GOPe, DIE!!

Heh. I’ve used the “metastasized cancer” metaphor on the forum here for the last two days.

******************************************************************

I’ve been using my tag line for the last few months:

“Bill and Hillary Clinton are the penicillin-resistant syphilis of our political system.”

They will give little Marco 6 more weeks, to see if he can get it up (the polls, I mean).

Then, he’s in.

You think that long? Maybe. Personally I don’t think Rubio withstands a 6 week bash but he might. the GOP is rapidly losing options.

I can easily see them sacrificing Rubio sooner or later, either way, and saying WELL WE GOTTA ELECT MITT!!!

Romney meh.

However, the ABSOLUTE TRUTH is that the Obama administration must saddle a great portion of the blame for Syria, the withdrawal in Iraq, and the rise of ISIS. When they supported the Arab Spring they created the chaos that allowed ISIS to rise. Prior to the Arab Spring the leaders we helped remove suppressed the ISIS crowd.

We should all be thankful that the Generals and the people in Egypt removed the Muslim Brotherhood from power (despite little support from this administration) or we would have even bigger problems right now in the Middle East and ISIS would be even more powerful.

Our fight against ISIS has largely been a joke and we have failed to support those to whom we pledged support because this administration chose the wrong people. We should have declared safe-havens and viciously protected them with A-10’s and Apaches from forward operating bases and the immigration situation would not be nearly as bad as it has become.

Obama talked about “peace” in Egypt when he campaigned. He was awarded a Nobel prize on nothing more than flowery rhetoric. The reality is that he has poured gasoline all over the Middle East. I freely admit that he inherited a difficult situation from his predecessor, but he has made it worse at every turn.

This is the constant message we should hear regarding the Middle East and the present refugee crisis. He (and Hillary - now Kerry) have created so many of the bonfires today directly and indirectly. We are NOT safer now than we were when he came into office. The world is not safer.

We must hammer this message over and over because it is undeniable. They can’t spin their way out of the mess - this is what happens when a community agitator becomes an international agitator with a Nobel peace prize.

Please name the people that voted for Obama directly on the ballot or retract due to ignorance of civics.
