Interesting you say that. Listening online to CNN this afternoon. Actually, they’ve had a balanced group of guests, so I’ve continued listening.
A point made by several people is that our air campaign up until now has been “anemic”...and how odd it seems that the intel was available to give France to go after these targets, then why hadn’t WE already done so? There’s a good deal of skepticism from several guests about the administration approach.
GOOD POINT. Without a facility to support the troops with food/medical care/place to recover, we can’t do much with boots on the ground. I guess I wasn’t remembering we don’t have a presence in the Med right now. *sigh*
As I recall, a couple days after 9/11 when Congressional leaders were gathered on the steps of the Capitol, there was a congressman (I remember it was Virgil Goode, but I can’t find a reference to it) who stated simply, concerning the islamists who attacked us, “They want to eradicate us. We need to eradicate them first!”
That remains the best summary I’ve heard of the situation.

If they accidently kill a few muzzie civilians, that’s not collateral damage, if they inadvertently kill any Christian civilians, that would be collateral damage.
If we knew where these places were before why weren’t they attacked before? I mean we (French, Americans, Russians, British, etc) were watching ISIS recruit, train and store weapons and we did about it until the French just now attacked them? Weird.

The French dropped 20 bombs on Islamic State targets? They probably killed 4 or 5 of them, 20 at the VERY most. France is going to have to send in ground troops, if they are serious.
