The US TV stations show hours of tall, skinny girls playing volleyball and call it the Olympics.
In comparison, they show a few seconds at most of wrestling and weightlifting.
The only athletes who can get attention are those who have a heartrending family story, such as a wrestler whose sister has a hangnail.
They will spend 15 minutes interviewing the sister, and at most 3 seconds or less showing the wrestler wrestle.

My sports watching on TV is the Indianapolis 500 and the occassional Chicago Bears football game. ESPN on my directv is deleted, although I’ve kept the NFL Game Day on 212 activated for weekend football scores.

Sports are part of the entertainment business. Unless you put the fannies in the seats, you don't survive. What happens between the lines has more to do with skill and ability than politics. It is what makes sports attractive. The only exception is sports that require subjective judging.
