Are you saying we should ignore it?

Not ignore - learn from it. If no action is taken to prevent it from happening again, then we are wallowing.

Over the last few years, I’ve read some interesting articles on the topic of “Conflict Termination.” In other words, how do when know when a conflict is over in this modern day of non-nation states fighting wars? There’s no one titular leader who can speak for the enemy and sign a surrender document on the deck of the Missouri.

Now, I’m thinking about how whe know when a conflict STARTS and against whom? Essentially, We wind up running around in other sovereign nations fighting groups that aren’t wearing uniforms. A wicked problem.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it when it needs to be done, but you have to admit it’s an provocative question in this day and age.

With the policies we're pursuing now in another few years we may find ourselves running around fighting groups without uniforms in our own country. A wickeder problem.

Great insights. My thoughts:

Know thy enemy. The enemy in this case is an ideological outlook contained within the term “Islam,” which is a totalitarian political system using religion as the glue which binds believers into a coherent group. The leader is Muhammed, who is conveniently lionized as the perfect man, and his book, which is believed to be the perfect unaltered word of God. Centuries and countries and people can come and go, but the core of the belief remains.

A metaphor is a similar but weaker system of thought, Marxism. Marxist thought promotes all sorts of actions among believers, and when one Marxist hotspot was put out, another one rose in its place. The problem, in most of the world, is that there are pre-existing belief systems that live along Marxism. The Islamic system informs believers about successful ways to eliminate those other systems of belief (or reduce them into “the people of the book,” with limited rights) in their sphere of influence.

Killing ISIS won’t stop the problems. The underlying belief remains.

So nuking Mecca would be a solution - after all, it’s the center of the belief system, and a place where you are supposed to go to once in your life, and eliminating that place would be a serious consequence to Islam. It might start dissent in the belief system, or cause collapse.

In either way, the enemy is an ideological belief. Attack that successfully and the threat might be mitigated. IMHO

Well, I think those issues are very interesting, and are the very things our leaders need to be addressing. I believe that the answers will make people uncomfortable. Begin with shutting down the borders so no more can come in, proceed to letting those already here know that they are not welcome. I mean discriminating against them, officially and unofficially. I don’t see another way. America might be an idea, but it’s an idea that some take to better than others.

I agree.

The time for caring about the life of a mohammedan, as compared to caring about your life, your spouse’s life, your extended family’s life, and the life of your country, must be put out of your mind until this business is finished.

Right now, YOU are the fishing boat ‘Orca’, and THEY are that monstrous great white shark, never stopping, never wavering from what they have been taught to do.

FDR and Churchill knew about the Holocaust, but knew they had to keep their eye on the prize: defeating the Axis. Dresden, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were all calculations that were made in support of the imperative to win the war, which was the most humane outcome for untold millions.

Ww2 fought the war dropping bombs not worrying about collateral damage.

The ONLY way you get slightly less insane Muslims to go against Radicals at home is to state booing some stuff away.
When the general population at large sees whole cities gone then they fear for themselves and you start positive change.

We need to care less rather than just saying we COULD care less when we mean we COULD NOT care less.
