Same reason as when they started, to run interference for the GOPe candidates. Pataki in NY, Linda in SC, etc.
Only problem was Trump...strategy didn’t work there - but they’re hoping it might help a bit, as they’re about out of options.

Why are Pataki, Graham and Santorum still in the race? I'm sure that millions of voters are wondering the same thing. It's highly unusual for candidates who poll that exceedingly low to stay in a presidential primary race for so long.
The only answer is, they're employees of the GOP establishment, who've put them there to act as pawns in a chess game. They'll stay in the race just as long as they're being paid to do so.
