Nobody brings ID on this kind of job.
And then again, they may have purposely left the passport to help the people making the investigation a clear message of who they were, and why they were there.
Would they care about OpSec if the intent was to end up martyring themselves?
And the "passport" is nearly always found in these things.
I would suspect that it’s a fake ID/passport....there’s been a lot of talk about this increasing.
If they wanted people to know who they were, from where they came, and to be afraid this could be repeated, they would.

This would suggest terrorist prefer to remain anonymous in an effort to avoid taking credit for terrorist acts. I think the reality is terrorist want people to know who's responsible.
The passport would be the only means of bragging after they are blown up. Also if martyr’s family are still rewarded wouldn’t there need to be some proof?
Nobody ? Have you contemplated doing this kind of job ? Look, our media and political leaders routinely deny that Islamic terrorism was involved. Just look at the recent stabbings on a US campus by an ISIS sympathizer. ISIS told us these Euro attacks were coming. They told us how they were coming. They just took took public credit for it. What else do you need ? A passport ? Suicide bombers tried to enter a soccer match that the President of France was attending. Apparently the passport was not enough, since they failed to get in the stadium.
