Thank you. My father in law was one of those B17 pilots. He bombed mostly strategic locations, industry’s, energy, rail yards and the like. Indeed, it got the Luftwaffe’s attention. Socialism is rearing it’s ugly head again and will always be with us.
Bush’s strategy worked well. Thanks for clarifying. I know well a man that was on the UN inspection team for WMDs. He confirmed; Saddam Hussein had them and they mostly moved to Syria.
I live in Dayton, and have toured the US Air Force Museum many times and often get the official tour, but sometimes with a guest get a special tour. One of the guides explained that the B-17 glass nose was its most vulnerable point, and that Luftwaffe fighters would go straight at the bombers. A bullet, he said, often would go completely through the plane, killing or wounding several, including the bombardier, pilot/co-pilot, mid-gunners, and tail gunner. Even the upper ball turret and later, the added lower nose turret really didn’t fix this. Only the P-51s, P-47s, and P-38s did :)
