The French have not had courage, fearlessness, or determination since 30 May 1431 when Joan of Arc departed this Earth. Unless Hollande goes looking for Joan, I don’t know where this is going to lead onto.
France was a warrior nation long after Joan of Arc. France was broken in 1917. French soldiers have at time served with distinction since then as well, but they are now outliers in a culture that seems to have given up.
You never heard of WWI? Ask Germany how tough the french can be.
You never heard of the Napoleanic Wars or the Franco-Prussian War?
Don't forget the Battle of Verdun (1916): "They shall not pass." But, yeah, your point is valid. WW I destroyed the French. and WW II destroyed the rest of Western Europe. The will to save their culture is, I fear, gone.
But I'm not being smug here. The U.S. is not much different. We have not become unbalanced by war. We have become unbalanced by 25 years of the rot known as political correctness.
How things would be different if Reagan, Thatcher, and John Paul II were in power today...
