An objective observer could conclude that Ted Cruz is running a flawless campaign, has made zero mistakes, has done well in the debates and is well organized.

Can someone explain why he hasn't gained any traction?

Here are 2 reasons why Cruz is not polling well:

1. Cruz pushing TPP:

2. Cruz pushing legal status for illegals:

Can someone explain why he (Cruz) hasn't gained any traction?

Good question. Ted Cruz is one of the best "politician" candidates to come around in quite some time. But there is a real bias this year against career politicians. Many people are sick and tired of politicians and are ready to go with an outsider. We have had this sentiment for quite some time but this is the first election cycle where we actually have a qualified candidate (Trump) who could actually win.

Another thing that Cruz has going against him is that he is too moral and upright. Many Americans these days are turned off by that and they would rather have a president who is flawed in some way. Perhaps an extramarital affair or a past problem that they have overcome (i.e. a drinking problem).

I know GW Bush won a lot of votes because he was a reformed alcoholic. Also, Bill Clinton won a lot of votes due to his womanizing. Ronald Reagan used to be a Democrat to use another example (plus as a bonus, he was divorced).

It might do Ted Cruz a lot of good if he were to tell us about some skeleton that he has in his closet.

Simply really, as smart as he is, as good as he debates, he doesn't come across as very handsome or personable. Something about him kind of creeps some people out. I know this because that's what several people have told me.

He is my #1 choice, so I am not a hater. But bottom line, most people end up making decisions based on "gut" feelings, and Cruz just doesn't excite their guts.
