Tomorrow Belongs to Them ... Mark Steyn

The totalitarian incubators of American campuses are whirring at full speed these days. After Yale and Missouri, yesterday the Dean of Students at Claremont McKenna College was forced out. You can see the totally racist email that cost her her job here .

...

Well, I think we're actually seeing the rise of a kind of incipient baby fascism, and I don't use that term lightly. I mean, the ruddy glow of middle age is still on my face, I'm reasonably confident that I can still outrun some of these mobs if I have to. But in 20 years' time, I won't be able to. And I'm concerned. If you look at the scenes from the University of Missouri where the so-called, actually a journalism professor is calling for some muscle to kick out the journalists, or the scene from Yale where they're standing around and intimidating the professor they disagree with, we have basically raised a generation now that prioritizes identity group politics over free speech. And that is going to be a tragedy for the world. I mean, this nonsense you just mentioned from Claremont is presumably over some 'cultural appropriation' thing - that it's racist for these two young ladies to put on sombreros and fake mustaches. Whereas if they'd said they were transitioning into men, then it would be okay to go around in fake mustaches. And if they were transitioning into becoming Hispanic men, then it would be okay, presumably, to wear the sombrero. So the internal contradictions of these identity group politics - where it's okay for Caitlyn Jenner to be culturally appropriating by getting out Grace Kelly's 1954 corset and posing in it on the front of Vanity Fair - that cultural appropriation, gender appropriation is okay.

This is what we're going to be talking about when the mullahs nuke us, and we will be the laughing stock of global civilization, because even in the decline and fall of the Roman Empire, they weren't wasting their time with this. But it's a serious business. It says nothing good about where the country's going to. And it's interesting that almost anyone who mentions these evasive, ugly phrases like 'safe space' is in fact a totalitarian bully. I mean, the people who need the safe space are the journalists being harassed at the University of Missouri and the professors they're trying to force out at Yale. These are the guys who would benefit from a safe space. And it's the people saying 'oh, we must have a little safe space' who are the totalitarians here.

I say that the students need to take out all of the professors and execute them, just as was done in France.

Those professors have reaped what they have sown.

Resignation of the Dean of Students at a university is not usually a national news story.

It’s not normally even a local news story.

I’ve been calling them proto-fascists.

These people aren’t “forced” to resign.

They let themselves be browbeaten into destroying their own careers by mobs of unruly adolescents.

Profs everywhere with tenure need to stand up like they are unionized and speak out for the first amendment, liberal progressive conservative fascist...this should be something all educated and uneducated Americans stand up and shout back for. This is why the flag and all those white crossed and hunched over men of old...and new!

Shout back like your life depends on it, because your life, like really, like, depends on it, like I know, right?

I don’t even understand the concept of “being forced to resign”. Is there a perk available if they resign before they can be fired? I’d let them fire me.

“... It is not about creating an intellectual space! It is not! Do you understand that?”

Gee...I thought this was a college campus and I believed the students were pursuing intelligence.

No, not normally, but then the story is not about the resignation, it is about the how and why that is the story.

I worry about our nation when there is no one standing up to this tyranny of the minority.

What we are seeing is our version of the Great Leap Forward, the Chinese Cultural Revolution. It ended badly for them, and it will end badly for us.

Each and every one of these stories should be reported on. Today they are attacking their professors, tomorrow, like the Muslim religious police they will be in the streets administering “justice” to anyone that does not conform to their way of thinking.

At the moment, government, media, and the law is supporting this hate filled movement, and anyone that stands up to them is ran over.

Ever wondered how a minority controlled a majority, we are seeing it begin here today in our nation. To pretend this story is not important is to stick your head in the sand and hope it all goes away.

Samuel Colt saw to it that you won't need to.

I've been calling them proto-fascists.

Brings to mind Rush's "caller abortions" from the early '90s. It would be effective to apply that tactic with "proto-fascist abortions". Just the term would p!ss off the Left (as well as it would the "baby fascists").

Is there a perk available if they resign before they can be fired?

Yes, it is called a cushy early retirement/severance package versus the risk of an uncertain future.

In a former life, I was in a quasi-government job and faced with the choice of taking what I could get and leaving versus fighting on against an environment dominated by idiots with an uncertain outcome. Since I had the know-how and talent to get a better paying gig elsewhere, I chose the former. Most people do.

Lots of us think we would be willing to fight on to prove a point and achieve justice. The reality is that the stress and toll it takes on your health and on your family just isn't, in most cases, worth it. It is all the more true when the justice to be administered is by a system which is rigged and corrupt.

I am in 100% agreement with the students. Give them the state universities and every school that accepts fed money. It’s time to let this movement reach its logical conclusion. There is no turning it back so let the schools fully embrace it so we can start rebuilding g on the smoking crater it will leave.

“Profs everywhere with tenure need to stand up like they are unionized and speak out for the first amendment, liberal progressive conservative fascist...this should be something all educated and uneducated Americans stand up and shout back for.”

And in other news of high treason of those standing up to the nut jobs......

URFA The extremist group of Islamic State (ISIS) on Sunday executed a group of its own Iraqi militants in Anbar province, on charges of dissidence attempts, local sources reported.

Speaking to ARA News in Anbar, a media source said that ISIS has recently arrested dozens of its own Iraqi militant fighters for trying to dissent and flee the city of Ramadi in Anbar province.

The terror group beheaded eight of its militants in the town of Zankura in Anbar province, in addition to the arrest of dozens of local Iraqi militants,” the source reported.

They were beheaded for committing high treason,” the source told ARA News on the condition of anonymity.

They had planned their escape since weeks, but they were arrested on an ISIS checkpoint, the source added.

LOL! I'm trying to remember that popular saying in the west, something like:

"God created all men equal. Samuel Colt provided us a tool with which to enforce it."
