I wonder how possible it is that Trump ran in order to provide cover for Cruz? I know it's completely far fetched, but seriously, they had that meeting before Trump announced.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate chess move: have him take all the hits left and right, attacking GOPe the entire time, then right before the primaries, step aside so Cruz can rocket to the top...

Wishful thinking I know... But it certainly would go down as one of the most historical elections ever...

If Trump steps down prior to the primaries, Marco Rubio will be the nominee.

Ted Cruz is a good guy, but he has all the charisma of a broom handle.

Democrats, Independents, and Moderate Republicans will outnumber Conservatives, and their pick will be our nominee.

Trump is the only chance we have of avoiding that.

Please don’t wish for Trump drop out. If he does, so will the nation.

We’re on our last legs here. There ARE NO DO-OVERS if we don’t win this election for someone who will do what needs to be done.

As nice a guy as Ted is, he doesn’t know squat about high finance, big deals, multi-hundred million or billion dollar negotiations.

"Wishful thinking I know"

Well, it's at least that.

That is seriously far-fetched. Trump is spending his own money and putting his other business on hold. He is obviously not playing the same game as typical politicians, even Cruz, who must depend on donations to stay in this game. That is why we are getting the unvarnished, blunt truth as he sees it. And thank God for it.

TIME Magazine (Aug '15): What's the most significant learning experience in your life?

Donald Trump: Over my lifetime I've seen a lot of very smart people who were quitters. They never made it. And I've seen people that weren't as smart who never ever, ever gave up. And those were the people that made it. And I've seen it to this day. I've seen people that graduated... in school who were super geniuses. And they never made it. And I've seen people that were not as smart as them and they're the biggest people out there. And the ones that are the biggest people are the people that never gave up. It's something I've just observed over the years.

So I take it you're not giving up.

No, I don't give up.
