Wise words. Donald Trump is clueless about the huge portion of the Evangelical Republican base. He just doesn’t live in their world or share their core values.
I don’t know how he can win without them.
Ben Carson is a renowned pediatric neurosurgeon. He was raised in Detroit by a single mother. His book and movie are the real thing. My teenagers are hugely inspired by him. They love his stories and enjoy his speeches. The stories about his temper in his youth are a small portion of his life story, used to illustrate his repentance. I get it. And how many other teens have experienced something do the same?
By making fun of this temper issue that Ben Carson says he overcame with God’s help, Trump is saying loud and clear to Evangelical Christians that sins are permanent. He’s treating Carson’s turning to Christ as something suspicious, shouting that people don’t change, and denying that God is sovereign and powerful. It’s completely against the whole gospel message! But Trump is ignorant of Christianity and doesn’t understand it. He might be able to get away with enough votes from the white voters with no college degrees, with broken family situations, who also feel alienated from the church, I suppose. They seem to be his personal base.
Most of the people in my circles are religious social conservatives—abortion, gay marriage, and religious liberty are big issues for them, as well as a candidate’s character and conduct—and I would say 97% of them don’t like Trump and don’t trust him.
Carson's book is filled with exaggerations, hyperbole, and outright lies. His mother's name is really Johnnie, she's older than he claims, she is NOT one of 25 siblings, she did NOT marry at the age of 13, and his father was NOT a bigamist. I've now seen stories that claim that he hit his mother in the head with a hammer, that SHE is the one that tried to hit him with one, and that his brother stopped him from doing so. Sooooooooooo....it's akin to the three card monte game.
He's pro-life, but sent those who wanted an abortion to another doctor.
He was a life long LIBERAL and only VERY recently became a GOPer; and no, he isn't a CONSERVATIVE !
We aren't voting on the pastor of the USA; we are in a race to get someone to be the president who will begin to save this once great nation from the mess she is in.
No, he’s not saying that sin is permanent. He’s not trying to be Saint Peter or God. He’s talking about who’s fit for holding the highest office in the land, what used to be called the Leader of the Western World. It’s too important to be lenient about.
There’s a lot Trump knows that he is not telling us. A lot that he is that he is not revealing. And not because it is bad. Because he is on message like no one I have ever seen. He is fighting to win this race the same way he will fight to win for us, if we give him the chance.
Show us the Barna research or demographic polls to back up your claim. Or was it just words? Were they truthful words, or wishful thinking?
