Sen. Bernie Sanders faces challenge to New Hampshire ballot eligibility

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is facing a challenge to his eligibility for the Democratic primary ballot in New Hampshire because of his longtime status as an independent.

The state's filing paperwork requires a candidate to declare as a registered member of whichever party he or she is running in.

The complaint, filed Thursday, claims Sanders is ineligible because he has never been elected as a Democrat. Sanders declared himself a Democrat while filing to run last week.

The state's five-member Ballot Law Commission, which rules on questions of eligibility, will take up the challenge Nov. 24.

If you can’t beat ‘em take ‘em out at the kneecaps.

It’s the Clinton Way.

So, for the sake of example, if someone is elected to the senate as a Republican, and has always held office as a Republican, if that person decided to switch parties and seek the Democrat nomination for President, they cannot get on the ballot because they were never a Democrat before?

because he has never been elected as a Democrat

This doesn't make sense. A candidate doesn't need to have been elected to something already.

Oh well! Now he’ll just have to end his democrat nomination campaign and start on his Independent campaign for the General Election.

The senator from the whitest, least diverse state in the US is having trouble getting on the ballot of the third whitest, least diverse state in the US?

Works for me! Hillary may end up being on the receiving end of a PUMA problem this time.

Actually, they have a point. Sanders is not technically a Democrat. He should be running for the nomination of the American Socialist Party. But it does show how sad the Democratic Party is for welcoming an outright Socialist to the table. On the otherhand, you have the detestable Republicans who are trying everything they can to fight their front runner who actually has been registered as a Republican since 2011 and for a good portion of his life prior to that.

I’m thinking that if Bernie does not get the nomination, he’ll run as a third party candidate in the general.

With Chafee out of the race, we'll never convert to the Metric System!

“The complaint, filed Thursday, claims Sanders is ineligible because he has never been elected as a Democrat. Sanders declared himself a Democrat while filing to run last week.”

Then Sanders should run as an Independent. That works for me.

Ol’ B.S. can beat this by simply saying: “Democrat, Communist, Socialist ... at this point, what difference does it make?”

Works for me too, and it’s not a happy place for Hitlary either because if she screws Sanders, his “supporters” will be more likely to stay home in the general to “thank” her.

I doubt the Clintoons would allow that to happen but would guarantee GOP win if he did run 3rd part.
I see way more Bernie bumper stickers that Hitlery. Actually, I haven’t see any Hitlery in my neck of woods.
