A Kremlin-owned TV network ‘accidentally’ airs footage of specs for Russia’s frightening new underwater nuclear weapon. Is it just a ruse to talk up Moscow’s military might?
A stray camera at a meeting of top Russian military leaders has allegedly captured a glimpse of the Kremlin’s possible plan for a bewildering and frightening new weapon—a radiation-scattering “dirty bomb.†One delivered by a drone submarine, which itself rides piggyback on another submarine.
The problem is: We have no way of knowing for sure if this is in fact an existing weapon or simply a media provocation designed to make us think that Russian President Vladimir Putin has got a dangerous new toy in his arsenal. If it’s real, then Russia is the first country we know about to come into possession of a weapon that, while not nearly as destructive as an atomic bomb, could spread lethal radiation over a wide area, rendering it uninhabitable. If the segment is a fake, it’s the latest in a long list of Kremlin media hoaxes.
“It’s true some secret data got into the shot, and it was subsequently deleted,†Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday about the mysterious footage. “We hope that this won’t repeat.â€
The technical aspects of such a device aren’t all that complicated. A dirty bomb is simply any munition containing conventional explosives wrapped in radioactive material. It explodes like any normal munition, but the fragments it scatters are irradiated and thus more dangerous for far longer periods of time than the debris from any standard bomb.
Compared to nuclear weapons, dirty bombs are easy to make—and their use, while highly provocative, is less likely to spark global Armageddon. But they’re still nasty enough that, back in the 1970s, the United States and Russia came pretty close to banning them.

PS: I don’t think Putin bluffs. I think the Russians (and the ChiComs) lie and cheat in world powers stuff but they don’t bluff. Bluffing is not the same as lying and cheating - they sound the same but are not the same concept.
And this comes a few days after the 2 SLBM tests off California.

The test coast the USA a few million. The Russians leak a brief video shot of a weapon they may or may not have and produce the same sabre rattling results.

There was a movie - saw it years ago on TV set in Australia - where a radiation wave was coming and life was about to end after a nuclear exchange.
Good thing we never set off nuclear bombs anywhere near the US.

Irememb3er this story - when he ordered 3 bombs to be taken from the facility and transported east - and summarily 3 Commanders, in charge of the facility, - who evidently reused the order - were fired - together - but evidently manged to thwart the plan being carried out.

why is everyone taking what is printed as gospel? I’d suspicion our traitor in chief is setting up a scenario - and if a dirty one goes off, it will NOT b e from Russia.
The powers that be here are closer to taking our country FOREVER than they have been in all the decades of planning and scheming - you think they’re going to go down because of a little thing like an election? They know if they lose this election - they likely will never recover...for sure, none of them now in charge will be around for a recovery.

Yes, “On the Beach”! One good thing about growing up as a kid in the 80s and 90s before cable was that the independent channels showed a lot of great movies that I don’t get to see anymore.
