or suggesting an alternative

I've been wondering for the last couple of weeeks ....

I have a deed to my property with our names on it as owners ...

Whose name is on the deed to the property and/or school building ?

Does the physical plant actually belong to anyone and if so .... who ?

I used to be a union carpenter and .... we were locked out of a job once back in the 70's

We never went back and completed the work .... it eventually WAS done (a mall store) ... but we didn't do it

food for thought

It’s been my experience that most of these associations use their dues money to build the structure and contents, then they sell to a affiliated investment fund and do a lease back. So in effect they own it, but the title is held by a tax exempt institution.

Colleges do this as well. They actually make money on the lease payments, the profits are used for their retirement investment funds as part of the portfolio.

Usually the County where it is located, some times the city

See above.
