Ending China’s Currency Manipulation (Op-Ed by Donald Trump)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 11-9-15 | Donald Trump

Posted on 11/09/2015 7:03:48 PM PST by MichelleWSC3

If we are to make America great again, we must do all we can to make sure that American interests are protected and that all Americans benefit from the actions of their government. Sadly, that is currently not the case. The incompetent, rudderless Obama administration’s negligence in foreign policy, trade and national security is making America less confident, less prosperous and less safe. Americans deserve better, and a Trump administration will turn us into winners again.

In late September, President Obama signed an agreement with the Chinese head of state that was intended to add a layer of protection to intellectual property in both countries. The ink was not dry before Chinese-sponsored agents began cyberattacks on private companies in the U.S. That agreement is not worth the paper it is printed on and the Obama administration is not doing a thing to fight back. Unfortunately, this has become an all-too-common pattern of behavior for President Obama.

The American people need to be told the truth about our “partner” China. China holds over $1.4 trillion in U.S. debt. The Chinese are, by far, the largest foreign debt holder. As of the end of August this year, the U.S. trade imbalance with China is already at $237 billion, on the way to an annual trade imbalance north of $350 billion. China’s economy is controlled by the government. Any notion that their economy is based on a free-market system is simply not true. If an American company wants access to the Chinese consumers, that company must share its intellectual property, a condition that violates international fair-trade standards, World Trade Organization rules and common sense.

>>>Facebook doesn’t operate in China<<<

It isn’t Chinese Government Policy.
It’s just that they all look the same.
They would only need ONE Facebook Page.

Trump admits he has been paying off politicians for years to get his companies favorable treatment.

For all we know, his goal now is to cut out the middleman and put the policies that will benefit his family business in place himself. Or maybe the politicians haven’t been willing to do everything he wants lately.

Yes, he’s getting old, so it’s time to help strengthen the family business for his kids to inherit.

What if the US and China both pegged their currencies to gold? We’d have what we have now, an effectively fixed rate between the two currencies. Who would be the currency manipulator then?

It almost guaranties that one of the questions about the debate will be on this topic. Maybe even to another candidate

No just a builders analysis of what and why they were solid from a professional viewpoint.

I say—give Trump a chance—he can’t be worse than Obama—no one would be. Yes, he will make himself richer but he may well save the nation too. Most Presidents feather their own nest in office. He seems to really understand business and he has new ideas—solutions to things. I think he is smart as well and can change directions if needed. He will pick good people to help him. With a good VP pick—he could be another Reagan. Most of all—America needs to be inspired—he can do it.

If Walmart or McDonalds lowers its prices do you complain? Why complain when China wants its goods to be cheap?

“I can’t wait for Carson to explain to us his support in depth for TPP at the debate. All 5,544 pages of it. “

All you need to know is Chapter 10 allows unlimited numbers of foreign workers to come work here, and be PAID the wage of the country of their origin. This is the most evil, the most VILE piece of legislation I have ever seen. Worse than amnesty!

I've decided that people and companies that deal with china are the equivalent of companies and people who have done business with NAZI’s and imperial Japanese during WWII, did business with the soviets during the cold war, did business with the Vietcong, the Khmer rouge, the Cubans, the Mexicans, the N. Koreans, the ME totalitarian regimes, and have a hand in attempting to destroy Europe and the US.

But hey, as long as you make a buck, and feel safe, right?

What are you, and your free trader buddies going to do when the chicoms decide that they don't need you as a middleman anymore?

For that matter, what is EVERY US company going to do when the chicoms decide that they don't need the US middleman anymore, and that ALL of those factories that US companies paid for are now property of the PRC?

You sold your soul to the godless communists. When they take everything away from you, you will have no recourse, and no sympathy from the millions of Americans that you have betrayed.

Yep, I agree. I hadn’t read that, but if that’s the case, this is vile beyond belief.

It’s the sacrifice of your fellow man for your own greed.

It would be the end of our nation as we have known it.

Trump should mind his business and this is NOT sarcasm. I am a known free trader...

How impressive...can you maybe explain why that's not everybody's business? (which, by definition, would include Trump)
