Beaverton [Oregon] woman hit $8M jackpot, gets no money [Casino says machine "malfunctioned]

Veronica Castillo is still pretty upset. She hit the jackpot at a Lucky Eagle Casino slot machine and won $8 million.

Except the casino said it was a machine malfunction and gave her $80.

The mortgage loan officer took her mother to the casino in Rochester, Washington last weekend. She put $100 in a machine and hit the jackpot — she thought.

"I was very excited, happy," she told KOIN 6 News. "Then I couldn't believe it."

The casino staff came over and told her the machine malfunctioned.

"They shut off the machine, took it away, printed out a ticket and gave me $80."

Tells the next one “there’ll be one more”

That’s why it’s called “gambling” - you take a gamble and usually lose - she lost.

Well... she won, but the casino welched on their part of the deal.

Injun casinos can do anything they want without fear of legal recourse.

That kinda makes them "indian givers." (sorry.. had to do that)

Oh I get it...the slot machines work fine when they take your money, but when they 'jackpot,' it's considered a malfunction.

Sort of like the Illinois lottery.

Kind of like in the same way when you go to the grocery store and an item is accidentally marked down from what it should be, the store will give it to you at that price for their mistake.

The machine told her she won so they should pay up. Bet you if it had “malfunctioned” on paying out $50, they would have just given it to her rather than kick up a fuss. This is clearly a case where they will fight tooth and nail to avoid paying out 8mil, regardless of whether it was legitimate.

Paleface casinos do this too.

Sounds like what the government is about to tell us when we don’t get our Social Security at retirement time.

“We spent the $1800 per month you were going to get. We’re going to give you $14 an month. Our government malfunctioned”

What are you talking about, how dare you even consider taking a payout from SS! Don't you know that there are Freepers that consider you a leach on society if you dare to take the benefits you paid into all your working life( Well unless you worked for the government)? It's people like you, and me, that are causing SS to go belly up by actually taking what we paid into!

If that casino had wanted to play it smart, they would have escorted that lady to one of the high roller lounges, informed her that her slot machine DID malfunction, however in the interest of keeping her business, they would like to present her with a one time ‘consolation’ prize of $100,000 dollars.

I’d bet she would have gone away happy.

But $80?

More details here, as usual from the British press:

Woman who won $8.5m jackpot at casino is denied her winnings because managers claim the slot machine 'malfunctioned'

'We deeply regret that Ms. Castillo temporarily experienced an incorrect credit display while the machine began its process of metering down after the display malfunction, and have offered her a weekend stay in one of our suites as our guest, as well as dining at the property and free play included,' said Jospeh Dupuis from the Casino.

That ain't going to cut it...

free to buy fermented liquids with no nutritional value that affects the brain’s perception of things

or getting married after 6 week because they’re in love

voting for a party that deceives them almost every time

investing in something without looking into it

buying 400 dollar shoes

going to ridiculously priced sports events

and on and on

lots of stupid things we’re free to do :)

Opposite to what we'll get November 8 2016...

80,000 votes for Hillary... but we'll somehow get 80,000,000.

Is that a nickel (lower left corner of image) machine? What is the advertised jackpot on that machine? We had nickel slots at the club on base (Europe) back in the 1980s, I’m pretty sure the payout on them wasn’t $8M.

Is this another Indian (PC: Native American) owned casino?
When the Indian Casino Craze started, I was thinking "As long as they run an honest game, they'll do fine."
I guess they don't.
