"Help me lay my baby to rest," is the heading of a GoFundMe page set up for the mother of slain Chicago youth, Tyshawn Lee, who was shot down last week in an alley on Chicago's South Side, lured there by his father's gang rivals, police say.
Chaquela Moore created the page on Nov. 2 for her friend, Karla Lee, the boy's mother, according to the site. By Sunday, it had raised $17,492 of a $10,000 goal, including donations from 727.
But a firestorm of controversy erupted Saturday after the mom reportedly posted several now deleted Instagram videos that defended her purchase of the car with some of the money, saying she needs it for protection because she is afraid to walk or take the bus, according to DNAInfo.
"If a m-----f----- telling you they gonna try to take your life, too, because of whatever the f--- is going on ... they already took my son. I walk to work, I get on the bus. I'm not trying to be a target for nobody," Lee said in one of the deleted Instagram videos, writes DNAInfo.

Honestly, she got far more money than needed for any funeral short of that of a pharaoh, so she might as well spend it as she wants.

I don’t blame her. If I were her I’d take it a few steps further. Buy a car, get in the car, drive the hell out of Chicago and never look back!
Perhaps she could establish a “go fund me” account for the under privileged with the surplus. I have found there is a certain segment of society who refuse to extend a helping hand to those in need, even though they themselves have benefited from the generosity of others.
New wheels? On social networking telling people to give you money? Oh yeah, she painted a BIG RED TARGET on her back. If they’ll kill a child, they’ll have no qualms killing another Chaquela for a few greenbacks. She’ll be dead in 30 days methinks.

In Scottsdale, AZ. the other day, there was a bumper sticker on a parked car that read: "I miss Chicago."
Someone broke the window, stole the radio, shot out all four tires, added an Obama bumper sticker, and left a note that read:
"Hope this helps!"
The morals of a Democrat city in a nutshell. The common goal in that corrupt culture is getting Other People’s Money to benefit yourself.

Fair enough. It would be a better thing to do, but still I don’t understand the outrage at her buying a car.
I don’t get the outrage either. She buried her son and had money left over. Tacky perhaps to collect more than you need, but it doesn’t seem dishonest as she raised way over the target number.
A Chrysler 200 is hardly the kind of car for the ghetto.
The car and the money will be all gone inside of 6 months. A year max. It’s always the way.
What’s the problem here? As long as it wasn’t a luxury car, and she saves some money for routine maintenance, it’s probably a wise move.
