People are stupid, animals are animals and you never, NEVER let non-family children play with the family dog unsupervised. I dont care what breed it is.

She was a nine year old. Not an infant. This was the work of a Pit Bull and it’s loser owner.
My chocolate lab would never hurt anyone. She absolutely loves everyone. Personally, I have never met a lab or golden retriever that was anything but very friendly.

How true you are. Years ago we had black lab-setter mixed dog. one of the finest of bird dogs and kindest and playful with all people. However, one day a young girl who was not from our neighborhood came up to the dog to pet it. The young girl about 12 years of age knelt down and attempted to just give the dog a warm muzzy. Our friendly dog nipped her nose such that it had a little blood from the bite. Lucky for us that in those days people understood such incidents could happen and never sued us.
More importantly, smart people don’t have dogs with such facility and proclivity for violence.
I guess you don’t know the difference between breeds, but in a backward way you bring up a point. Every breed has specific characteristics. I wouldn’t own a dog I couldn’t trust with everyone including other kids. Much like I wouldn’t own a weapon and leave it available to anyone to play with.
A dangerous dog (pitbull) is a deadly weapon. Labrador Retreviers, not so much. Guess which one I own.
